Can you bolt headers to stock cats?
I live in So Cal and bought shorty headers but have not installed them yet. I just found out I am moving to Colorado and I think their smog laws are more relaxed than CA so I might be able to get away with full length headers now.
My question is, can you install full length headers and weld them to the stock cats? If so, what kind, from which manufacturer?
The reason I ask is that I have a Bassani x-pipe going to my cat back exhaust that I don't want to get rid of.

Any good custom muffler shop should be able to do this the
way you want. Things will definitely need to be cut and re-welded.
You'll want to keep the bolt-together flanges at the end of the
header pipes, but a good shop will do that anyway.
Although you could reuse the stock cats, you're better off with
a good pair of RandomTechnology or similar aftermarket high-flow
cats.

Melting Slicks
I have the B&B LT's that LPE used to market under their name. The H pipe had to be cut just in front of the stock cats and new flanges welded to the H pipe. There is very little room between the LT's and the cats, so depending on length of the headers you use, you could run into problems requiring the cats to be moved rearward. The harnesses for the rear O2 sensors could be too short if you need to move the cats.
