Default High flow cats vs. no cats sound.

Hey guys, is there a sound difference between having high flows vs. no cats at all?

Thanks

I have high-flow cats, they sound great and are loud. Not sure about the sound difference, but I suspect that no cats would be a little louder. However, something else to consider is the sulphur smell many cars, without any cats, give off.

It will be considerably louder without cats.

I thought the sulfur smell came from the cats when a/f ratios were off?
I dont remember any of my early noncat cars having that smell

I had some on another car and they quieted the exhaust sound some, but it wasn't that noticable. Every car is a little different. This was shorty headers on a standard 383 sbc, 2.5 inch exhaust, 2 moroso spiral flow mufflers and 2 magnaflow mufflers with approximately 400 horse at the flywheel. This was also a carbeuretad car.

It got a lot louder when going from hi-flow cats to catless x-pipe.
