Champion Plugs
Why the bad rep for Champion Spark Plugs. I bought set of 9405 Iridium and people start telling they wouldn't use Champion in their lawn mowers. What gives?

I wouldn't use chumpimums in YOUR lawn mower. There are better QUALITY plugs out there. Delco Iridiums, NGK Iridiums, Years ago,Champions were BOTTOM of the barrel. They had some dependability issues. I think those issues have been addressed. I still refuse to use them. It took them a LONG time to admit to the issue.
Basically,,,if you have a STOCK (pretty near stock) C5/C6,,,any rare metal plug is VERY good. The rare metal just makes them last longer and maintain emissions standards for the full OEM warranty period. No performance advantage is seen from rare metal vrs standard plugs.
If you have a significantly modified N/A C5/C6, a good quality copper plug is recommended (it will not last as long as a rare metal plug)
So,,,,,,,,,,,there you have a good base for your selection.
As long as you getting an opinion on good bad... An EXCELLENT plug wire is the stock GM "RED" performance plug wire. The QUALITY of the wire is excellent. The performance of plug wires is NOT a factor. DO NOT purchase plug wires for performance HYPE! The GM secondary ignition system is excellent and OEM Stock plug wire will support in excess of 700 HP without issue.

If you're happy with them, then don't worry what others say. Just to try something other than Delco or NGKs (which for some reason everyone seems to worship), I came across a good deal on some Autolite XP Fine Wires and have been running them for at least 6 months or so. I've had no problems with them at all.

It just goes to show you just because a company's product was great or poor years ago doesn't hold much weight today. If you don't know its best to ask, most of the guys on this forum know what they are talking about.
