C5 to C6 Z06 brake setup swap
Good day everyone. I am in the process of doing this swap. Looking at doing it this weekend. I will be changing out the brake fluid, brake lines, calipers, etc. My quesiton is how do I bleed the brake fluid out of the C5 setup, install the C6 Z06(I know this is fairly straight forward) setup, and add the fluid and test? I have never done this before and am looking for guidance or a "how to" guide.
I would really appreciate input on this.
Thank you.

Its not really a hard job at all. Just take your time and think about what you are doing. Just a few things to consider:
Make sure you use line wrenches when working with the tube fittings, and take care when loosening the fittings. If there's corrosion, the whole tube will have a tendancy to turn with the nut. When you put the hoses back on, make sure you orient them properly. You want to see a nice s curve in the vertical plane at normal ride hight. You don't want them to get streched tight or rub on anything. Scope out all conditions such as full left/right turn, full rebound(easy) and full bump. Check this even if you are using stock hoses...the port locations on the calipers are different than on the C5. Also, if you're using stock style hoses with the square caliper ends, the rears will have to be modified to clear the caliper mounting bolt. I angled mine away on a 30 degree angle, which seems to work well enough.
When you bleed the calipers, don't forget to do both sides. They have two bleeder screws, and you should alternate between the two as you bleed the caliper. Don't let the reservoir up top go dry!! Also, when you disconnect a caliper/hose, the line is gonna start dripping. Gravity will empty the reservoir out for you if you leave it like that long enough.

Make sure you don't let the system go dry while you are working. If you get air above the abs valves you will more than likely have to go to a dealer to have them do a bleed with the Tech 2. That gets the air out of the abs unit which you can't do with a manual bleed. Get something to plug the lines while you get everything in place.
You don't have to switch back and forth between the C6Z caliper sides. Bleed the outer and then the inner. Same process that Wilwood tells their Customers to use with their calipers and what I use on my C6Z. Bleed sequence for 01 and newer C5s is RR, LF, LR, RF. For earlier C5s it is RR, LR, RF, LF.

Thank you guys for all the input. Not sure if I will attempt this myself. Might have someone else that knows what they are doing help me. Not sure of how to bleed the brakes, or how to even remove the rear rotors from my C5 (I tried once and they would not come off). I bought braided lines custom made to fit a C5 with C6 Z06 brakes so I am hoping I won't need to modify them at all. Any input on how to do the above I just mentioned?

So you put C6 drilled rotors on a C5?, does it fit without any issues? Also I am looking for the C6 drilled rotors (Only) not slotted ones and I was wondering if they will fit a stock C5 setup with stock C5 calipers. The craze is for Drilled/Slotted rotors, slotted rotors will wear down the brakes on a street ride. I understand in racing but not for the streets. I like the looks of the drills and cooling ability but can't find just plain drilled rotors (only in canada for some reason). Thanks

Is there a how to guide as to what steps to take from start to finish. I really want to do it myself but want to make sure I don't screw anything up. Thank you all.

You can just use your service manual. Ragtopws6 has a thread with the particulars for the c6 setup....post#5

Thank you very much for the link. My problem is two things. I am not sure how to remove the rear OEM rotors and I am unsure how to bleed the brakes. Should I remove the oem brake lines, plug so the fluid doesn't drain out, and then install the new brake lines? I have never blead brakes so I am completely new to what should happen or what should be done.
