The container I have states it is compatable with each other. If it were mine, I would go back to Dot 4. Not because I have too, just my personal choice.

Just flushed mine with DOT3 the other day. I did what the filler cap said. Was not sure if I should do synthentic or not but I just bought the basic DOT3 stuff from Oriely's.

DOT 3 and DOT 4 are completely compatible. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point and is generally considered to be better because of it.

In a practical sense, one's pretty much as good as the other. You won't notice any performance difference.

I've been using Prestone synthetic DOT 4, from Walmart, in my motorcycle's clutch and brakes for years with good results.

I would think that if a car is being used at the track where higher speeds are consistently encountered, DOT 4 would be the way to go because of the higher boiling point.

No problem. DOT 3 will work just fine, no need to do anything.

Go DOT4. Higher boiling point. DOT3 is good too, but will break down quicker. Both are interchangeable.
