Default Need Help!

My 2000 convertible with 58,500 miles on it started squeaking recently. I got underneath and noticed that HB belt was dancing so I assumed that was the problem. Took it to a shop and had the HB replaced with an new OEM HB. That however did not stop the squeaking. My next guess was water pump but before obtaining one I removed both belts off the car, started it up and IT'S STILL SQUEAKING! I got under neath the car and the squeaks seem to be coming from underneath the car from the area behind the HB to the oil pan. Also when the engine is reved up, the squeaks speed up too. The car runs fine but the squeaking is down right embarrassing! Somebody PLEEEEZE help me out! I am a decent mechanic who does about 75% of the work on this car but this seems to be above my pay scale. Any suggestions?

Nope, not at all. I'm thinking about dropping the oil pan. Do you think I would learn anything that?

Noises can be deceiving. I would use an automotive stethoscope to better validate the source location. Never heard a squeak from inside an oil pan. Make sure it is not a vaccum leak.

Ok. Thanks for that advice. I don't have an automotive stethoscope but I'll get one tomorrow. Do you have any suggestions on where to search for vacuum leaks. This was my first time using this mechanic. Is it possible the HB wasn't installed correctly? Could the HB be squeaking even though it is not wobbling?

The HB should not cause a squeal unless it was rubbing on something.

Could the noise be coming from your torque tube, maybe a bushing going bad?
