Passenger door lock issue
Hi everyone... I have been searching this forum up and down for this issue. The passenger door lock doesn't lock or unlock with the fob or the door lock buttons. I can manually lock and unlock it. Possibly the actuator or do you think it's electrical. I can hear it attempt to move when hitting the buttons... Not sure though... Need some help

There are dozens of old threads about this problem. It's most likely that the door module relays have burned out.
Does it not lock and unlock ... or does it lock and not unlock, or vice versa?
Here's a thread I found with a search using 'door lock relay' ... many more similar are in this forum.

As a general matter, the door modules themselves have been pretty reliable over all, but the choice of particular OE electro-mechanical relay(s) used, seems to be the main failure item. Specifically the "lock" relay and the "unlock" relay.

With that symptom, I'd say the mechanical linkage is hanging up somewhere. Might be worth popping the inner door cover off and taking a look at the mechanical linkage, etc.

Same exact symptoms as my door lock problem. Solution was replacement of the lock relays. Less than $10 and two hour's labor. If you don't have circuit board soldering skills, find a local Ham and pay him to do it.

Awesome... Next chance I get I am taking the door panels off and looking at mechanical connection and then I will look at the relays and order. Any specific place to recommend where to buy the replacement relays?

Follow the thread in the reply from ZEEoSix above... lot of info.
The relay part # is: JSM1-12V-5
Digi-Key has them, or try the site below:

I ordered a few new door panel retainer pins from Mid America in case I broke some taking the door apart. Using a set of cheap Harbor Freight door panel tools I managed to get it done without breaking any... but if you decide to do the same thing, the Mid America part # is 619-306.

Mine did the same thing a while back and Bill C said to open the passenger door and wiggle the crap out of the accordian that houses the wires going into the door. I did and the problem disappeared. Costs nothing, give it a try. Rod

Mine does the same thing except no noise. Have not tried to fix but will do it one day. Having looked at the design a good while back I seem to remember the doors use a motor to actuate instead of a solenoid for some reason. Could be the motor. Once you get into the door you could jumper power to the motor to see if it works or not. Should not be hard to figure out once you get into the door. Let us know how it goes.
