Just reading on the C7 board where 2 engine failures do to thrust bearing failures.
Turns out both cars had a bad fuel senders that were replaced.
Per OP the driveline was not properly installed /aligned resulting in the crank thrust bearing to fail.
Driveline had to be removed to service the fuel sender
Being new to corvettes and a new owner of a C5 does this alignment issue also exist on the C5
The C5 does too. The input end of the torque tube has a splined shaft. The flexplate has an adapter with a clamp for the shaft. You have to get the engine to operating temps before tightening the clamp. Here is a picture of it.
