Default 1/4 vs 3/8 tunnel plate

I'm trying to decide between the 1/4 or 3/8 tunnel plate. It's a 99 FRC, summer daily driver that see occasional track action. I will be putting the chromoly RPM roll bar in the car as well. I'm wondering for my application what plate will work the best.

Depends on the material. Steel is stiffer than aluminum.

I was leaning more torwards aluminum due to it's weight.

Personally, I highly doubt you could tell a difference between them in a blind test.

Think you will find the aluminum plates are the thicker plates.

Elite Engineering's tunnel plates come in 1/4 and 3/8 both are made of aluminum. As mentioned above I am not sure you would be able to feel or tell the difference between the two on the street. Some others with experience with them might chime in.

I switched the stock 2000 convertible tunnel plate with a C6 Z-06 tunnel plate. Can't tell the difference in street driving but for $40.00 I couldn't pass it up. And I KNOW my car is now faster as it has a Z-06 part on it.
