50HP brings you into LS6 territory. Others will likely chime in with as good or better ideas, but a decent cam and headers will get you there. Some used 243 heads with the cam and headers would be a nice move.
Do you have a budget? Or are you more like me, and just want what you want as reasonably and easily as possible?
Another option, depending on what you have currently would be 3.42 gears. Talk about waking up a sleeping car.

LOL,,,, I did 450 RWHP the hard way. Heads, cam, ported Fast 90, headers & vararam.

I have to say the car is FUN, but,,, knowing what I know now,,, IF,, I had it to do all over again,, Ide install FI (Supercharger)

OP

Something that you have to understand. When you increase power above the 400 RWHP mark,, there are NUMEROUS things that will show their weeknesses.

Drive train, cooling system, fuel deliverly system and suspension. ALL will need to be addressed. TRUST ME! Been there solved that $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ You drop in a High HP Mill and the TRANS takes a dump!

Heres the MOTTO that you need to live by:

FAST, CHEEP, RELIBLE,, Pick TWO because you can NEVER have all three!!

You will be into a WHEELBOROUGH load of cash either way you go but,,,,, FI, will be a lot more reliable.

Im getting ready to install nitrous on my 2000. Complete kits and safety equipment can be found for under $1000 for everything. Also the install looks very easy and can be done by your self with in a day depending on your skill. NOS has my vote
