Default Need input from DD running 4.1 differential

For daily drivers with M6, what are the pros and cons running a 4.1 diff.

Please let me know. Thanks.

As a DD you might get tired of shifting more, the gas mileage will drop, resale might drop, tires wont last as long.
on the other hand its alot more fun, 5th and 6th gear are actually useful. the car is quicker, more bottom end with a big cam,

I love my 4.10 for screwing around on the street and track. I wouldn't like it for a DD. All you do is shift .

I had a set of 4.10's with my h/c/header setup and it was mucho fun! However, I wouldn't do it as a dd for the reasons posted above. I now have a stage 3 RPM Quaife 3.42 diff in it's place for my FI setup.

The alternative to running 4.10s and making 5th and 6th fun on the street would be to simply drive your car in 3rd and 4th instead with stock gearing.

I don't see a point to gears in a manual, if anything I will just be tweaking my internal ratios as I'm not a fan of my z51 1-3 Gearing.

I hear people "swear" by them. Personally my car will already shred the tires in 1st, my supercharged car doesn't even really hook until 3rd.

4.1 in the rear would just make those problems worse and in-between not hooking I would be shifting more.

If your car is NA, there's nothing better than 4.10s. I drove my M6 with 4.10s for two years before I sold it.

It's crazy fun on the street. And very good if you ever visit the drag strip. We don't buy these car for mileage. That said, I didn't notice a significant drop in mileage with my car.

Don't fear the gear!

I have 3.73s in my 6 speed FI car and I like them a ton. I am not sure I would go as deep as 4.1s. I think that might be a little to much more to be good.

If you change your diff, you might contact C5ster as he posted above he wants to go to 3.42s and may be in the market for a set.
