Default hinson stainless steel headers installation

Friend of mine bought these headers https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...torsports.html

Overall good fitment. Slid in from under without lifting motor. Does not come with header bolts or gaskets. So reused factory pieces.

had to removed the oil pressure wire and two ground wires bolted to block to get the driver's side in. on the passenger side there was a plastic connector that holds the positive and negative wires together i had to remove. make sure to install the driver's o2 sensor in before installing the header.

the passenger front o2 connector was a bear to get reconnected. zip tied it so as not to touch header. driver's side was fine. no provision for the dipstick to get secured in place. the front pipes to x-pipe had to be persuaded into place.

what it looked like from under car.

only real gripe i had was why they decided to use these stainless band clamps instead of just providing 2 more of the other clamps. as you can see, the driver's side had very little holding the two pipes together due to the bracing.

How are these headers holding up? Has the coating stayed on? Any rubbing anywhere? Any leaks through the slip fit connections?

He doesn't drive the car much. We'll be doing a cam swap next month and I'll look at them.

Nice to see they fit well I got the same. Mine should be a little easier as I am doing heads and cam along with the rest of the parts that need replaced.

That AC pipe that is resting on the header will NOT last very long and will burst Seen it happen several times. You need to find a way to keep it off the header.

That one clamp with the two bolts will eventually contact something (been there) and you will wish that rearranged it so that it doesnt protrude lower than the underbody.

Other wise, GREAT JOB!

I'll look at it tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't touching. Most likely just the camera angle. I tried my best on those clamps. Need different ones.

Very happy with mine. Didn't even remove the starter wires to install the header. I have about 1000 miles on mine.

Are these the latest generation or an earlier production model. We're these jet-coated?

still needs more clearance than what shows and I wrapped mine with header tape (XS Power headers)

curious as to why they didn't coat the inside of the headers as well, those look pretty nasty to be brand new
