pipes are 31 inches each with inserts that push in to 25 inches there is a small hole on the plug so basically staggered chambers ...that's how it was before...primary target is 2000 to 2500 and then the little hole helps a little for 1600 to 2000. Overall j pipes change the tone at all rpm! Without them it feels like you are inside a base drum wen you drive.if you're duing this don't use mufflers incorporated at the j pipe cose the condensation ,the first design I made these Cherry bombs rusted so bad that perforated pipe inside turned solid and that's after only a year! Testing now if I can remove insert after I test drive and fix the pipes at 25"

Good stuff I usually hear the most drone around 2200 rpms so you probably nailed it. Curious how your inserts work hopefully will share.

My ultimate goal is to eliminate all low end frequency's and leave only the high pitch. I know this is sacrilege to most but would love a high pitch sound closer to a Ferrari (I know flat crank plane is most of the sound).

A retired Corsa TI exhaust with multiple J-pipes like that Japanese car may be the closest I will get to that with our muscle car v-8s.

Damn that came out pretty damn good. Don't hear any low end gurgle at all and has a little high pitched whisk at the top there. If you could take a ride that would be great.

So your total J is 31" with a blocker about 6" in with a hole in it? And is the end of the 31" J Capped?

answer to both questions is yes! But I left the laminar flow inserts too, they don't target specific area but du make the car quiter ,the thing is its still a little loud at 1500 where I Cruze on the freeway not bad but I am gonna make it perfect ,if I remove laminar flow inserts it will probably bother me! So I was thinking before about
Your idea but a little different...make a hole on the j pipes and tag another pipe so it will have 2 ends one 25.2 and the outer 31 ,basically End like Y pipe, cose there Is no room for one more full length pipe! At the end of the day little resonators helped but not enough to completely cover the 1500 rpm problem! I have another video from previous set up its way more raspy without laminar flow inserts, will find it later.

Sorry to be a pain but any internal pictures would help with the laminar setup.

My plan is to start with a dual x-pipe setup. American racing headers and the knockoff version have a x-pipe right before the cats. Then I would add in my corsa X on the tailend giving 2 areas of crossover scavenging and burble reduction. I believe some aftermarket C7 systems utilize this.

Not sure the y would work I go back to the zokusha muffler that had 3 separate lengths knocking out 3 ranges of low frequency. Room is tight obviously. Maybe there is room directly above or below your current J and run it parallel. Or knockout the center cubby and fiberglass it flat and run the small J on the inside maybe 18 - 20" to knockout the lower rpm gurgle/drone.

Thanks for the experiment as I have no welding skills and will have to rely on someone to execute the ideas presented here. But it seems you are very well on the right track to something im looking for.

This whole project is just great. I'm glad that even with all of the "tested, plug and play" options out there, there are still experiments going on.

Also, I like the tone. Very different and not obnoxious as far as I can tell from the video.

reason I started all this is cose most aftermarket exhausts drone ,unless u spending 1200$ on a corsa .Most droning straight through exhausts can be altered with j pipes to remove the drone if not all of it at least so the car is drivable! ;-) I am testing now j pipes set at 33" ,I like the sound better and no drone at cruse. I keep saying this but different length really changes over all tone throughout the rpm. Will post video this weekend.tnx

How much for a set? I would want a set exactly like yours but maybe a little longer resonator. My drone area is a bit lower maybe 2000 so 33 or 35 inches would be better?

Thanks!

Here is the chart I used ...tried 2000,1900,1600 and set at 1500 now ,it is pretty accurate,u don't have to be super accurate about the lengths ,I am currently half an Inch off simply cose I can't go longer than 33" so it's not at 1500 it's at say 1520 rpm. Bend radius on j pipes is 3.75

Link for j pipes https://m.summitracing.com/search/pa...us-in/3-750-in so I recommend to set the j pipes at the rpm you cruise on the freeway , my car is manual so 6 gear 70 mph is 1500 rpm , and that's the only time it bothers,on lower gear the engine pulls throu easy so no drone is present ,2000 to 2500 is a bit loud but it's fine and I'm not at that rpm all the time. I also own a 2006 gmc truck with auto so Cruise on that is 2000 rpm ,I have never driven an auto corvette but I assume Cruise is 2000 rpm

I think you should du what I did first and go from there! So far I like this setup and I think that will be it for me ! The inserts for the j pipes are 2.1/4 inch pipe expanded to fit snug inside the 2.1/2 j pipe,on one side is caped with freeze plug ,so its slides inside and changes the length of the j pipe without citing it.also your setup before rear axle is different than mine,if you don't use catalysts you will have different sound
