Default Automatic trans rebuild kit

I have been searching and searching for an entire rebuild kit and cannot find a good kit. I have been looking through the forums for a answer but when I find a kit someone has used its either too old and cannot be found or a lot of people have said the kits are junk. I have a mostly stock car, few bolt ons, I bought a 3.42 rear I'm installing as well as a yank3200 converter. I just want to go through the trans while its out so I have no problems.

Thanks for your time and input on this, been driving me crazy trying to find one.

I'm not sure, I know the servos are bigger in the corvette and the truck kits have the corvette servos in them. I would like to upgrade the sunshell with the beast. Also have been reading about red alto clutches. Not sure if it's a brand or style of clutch but I've been told not to run Kevlar clutches in it, is this true? Car probably has around 400hp.

I've had good luck with Trutech transmissions. Jeff is very helpful over the phone and will supply just a few parts or kits from the website.
trutechtrans.com

This is also a good site for researching parts.

Thanks for the info. I checked them out and their kits seem very well put together at a reasonable price also. Will call them this week to see which kit he recommends for my car.

Amazing service from them. He takes the time to answer any question and share his knowledge. Rare to find someone like this, as they don't get paid any more for it. Explained all the clutch options and what the different color frictions (black, brown, red, blue) can do for it, depending on how the car is used, power level, etc.

Just some NOTES that you may need to complete your modifications:

1. If you change the Torque Converter OR diff gearing, you will need to alter the PCM Tuning to have the proper shift points and line pressures after the modifications are in..

2. There are a TON of very good You Tube Vids that cover all the repairs that you are doing. One has an ENTIRE SERIES on the complete tear down and repair of your trans.

There other parts that need to be upgraded while you have it apart.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the notes, I have hp tuners for the car to adjust the shift points for the new gear ratio. Although I'm not quite sure how much it needs to change but I guess I'll figure it out once I drive the car. I'm not sure I need to upgrade anything else. I mainly plan on using the car for a DD and go to the track maybe once a year, although I could be wrong? What other upgrades would I need to do? I have the car tore apart now. Thanks for the help.

You mentioned the beast sunshell. Since it came on the market Sonnax has introduced an even further improved sunshell they call the Super sunshell. I'm running one in my truck - doesn't cost much more than the Beast.

Do you mean the smart sunshell from sonnax? I can't find the super sunshell you mentioned.

Also how many people replace the solenoids in the transmission when rebuilding them? Mine has 113,000 on it, nothing wrong with the trans now just want to freshen it up while its out of the car.

Yes, the Smart sunshell. Memory isn't what it used to be.

Solenoids are easily changed with just a drop of the pan. I wouldn't change them - who's to know if you are going to get a bad one right out of the box?

Good to know. I looked up that sunshell and hardly no more money then the beast. Reviews are great on it. I'll just leave the solenoids in it then, just wasn't sure what everyone was doing.

I got my kit from this gentleman. He even includes a USB drive with detailed video's of the rebuild process.

That site, with the parts and video looks good, but I'd sure want some beefier and more parts than he offers in the Deluxe Kit. What I liked about the previously mentioned place was they sell kits that can hold up to 750rwhp. Basically, the kits contain the same stuff that RPM and other big players put in their trannies. But your site is perfect for the lower HP stuff and way cheaper. Appreciate the heads up. I bookmarked the site for future reference.
