Here is a GM 101 list of how to access all the info in the Tech 2. It is PDF so it is searchable.

Here is a photo I took just showing how you can use the Tech 2 together with a windows 10 pc and the TIS2000 running in a virtual XP pc .
I have also connected the USB key to a USB port and it recognized by the virtual pc .

And as others said, the USB key is for use with TIS2000. It's a hardware key which authorizes your computer to run the software.
Right, but what is the difference in the GM NAO and just GM software? They have separate software for some reason.

thanks guys, downloaded that pdf and will go through it also. So the TIS2000 is just to virtualize the Tech2?

Very cool Have you ever flashed any software updates? I've been thinking of one of these clones.......I've seen some warnings that it ruins things.

No I have not done any reflashing with my clone Tech 2 .

I bought my C5 and Tech 2 last summer and are trying to learn the Tech 2 and figure out the use of the Tech 2 and the TIS2000 I bought .

As far as I have learned by now is that the main use of TIS2000 is to update an existing PCM or flash a replacement (new) PCM .

As far as I also have learned you download files for your VIN from ac delco site by means of the TIS2000 first . Then you copy these files from the pc into Tech2 memory . Afterwards you connect the Tech2 to the OBD2 plug in car and update according to correct prosedure . I hope you can confirm if this is correct ....

I can´t see any problem with reflashing the PCM using this clone .
This video seems to confirm that the quality is good of these clones .

The number he is talking about inside in my opinion is mostly likely a Dealer number ????? Have seen a story that says the Dealer Tech 2 's were made in China also ????? Read it on the internet so it must be true ???? All I know is mine seems to do what I wanted ??? The main reason I bought it was to do the Brake bleed on my 99 Active Handling Vette which I have already done and worked perfectly !!!!

Most people just generalize that the "GM" software is GM NAO instead of the other foreign (Saab, Opel/Vauxhall, Suzuki, etc..) versions.

There are two separate software's and versions though for GM and GM NAO from what I see but maybe I'm wrong.

GM NAO 33.002

GM 32.008

I wound up purchasing a refurbished Dell Lap Top with Win XP just for the
TIS2000 program and I can also use the laptop to view real time data as it's wired up in between the Tech II and the car

You'll want to go with the latest version. In this case it's the 32.008
