Default oil pump question

I have 2001 z06 and was about to remove the oil pump and noticed the bolt or bolts on the oil feed tube. my question is do i need to loosen the oil pan to get to these bolts. Since the car is lifted the leaf spring is pressed up against the oil pan. Any suggestions other than lifting both sides of the the suspension to relieve the pressure off the spring

LS1tech howto states there is one bolt on the front side of feed tube, but I noticed a possible other bolt on the back side.

To the best of my recollection, there's only one bolt, and I think the head is a 10MM hex. You CAN remove it without dropping the pan, but you'd better have nimble fingers. My suggestion is to slide a piece of tinfoil under the pump, covering the opening in the oil pan, to catch the bolt, if it drops from your fingers.

Also maybe use a flexible refrigerator magnet (about the size of a business card). Anything to keep that sucker from disappearing.

Should ONLY BE ONE FASTENER on an OEM Pump application! MAKE SURE that you get the O ring properly seated inside the pump or you will have ZERO OIL PRESSURE!

Here a picture for you!!!

Some pumps have TWO bolt holes but,,,,, the OEM pick up tube only used ONE fastener.

Strongly recommend replacing the timing chain and if your block is drilled for a timing chain dampener, I highly recommend purchasing and installing one!

The front cover gasket can be installed in two directions!!!!! Only ONE is correct! Make sure you get it right!

Install a new damper and seal and oil up the lip seal before you reassemble..

What dampener bolt are you using for the reinstall? Do you have the proper torque procedure?????????????

Great Picture thanks!

I bought the Melling stock oil pump (M295) which has two threaded holes, hopefully that is not a problem with a one bolt pick up tube.

I have basically bought everything that is related to my project(power steering pump, water pump, timing chain(c5r). oil pump, harmonic balancer(summit), cam(comp), springs(pac1218), LT headers, trunions for the rockers, ls7 lifters. assorted gaskets and bolts(arp). Phew! I know their is something I forgot

One of my concerns now is measuring pushrod length. This project is all new to me and I am watching the hell out of YouTube diy's. But I'm still a little nervous about the small critical details I might miss.
