Default Possible snapped output shaft at drag strip?

Hi all,
I broke at the starting line at the strip yesterday, I'm running Nitto DR NT05R's with around 450 RWHP and a monster Stg II clutch. I have been launching at 3600rpms with no problems and went to launch at 4K released the clutch and the car didnt even move. Made no noises or sounds at all just sat there running like it wasn't in gear. The clutch still feels perfect no noise and solid engagement feel and goes into every gear smooth. She just wont move though I can sit there with the car running put it in first (or any gear) and release the clutch and it doesnt bog down it attempts to move a little and then just sits there and idles with no throttle input in first gear without moving. I have nothing leaking anywhere, no noises cmon from anything car just wont move. I'm thinking I possibly snapped the input shaft off the trans or differential. I will be tearing it down this week to see what I find,

Any Ideas?

You say it kinda sorta wants to move when you let the clutch out. But ends up not moving at all?
That would be an output shaft. Jack up the rear and see which wheel spins freely.

If the car makes no attempt at all to move, it could be the trans output shaft.

If it makes a bit of noise when you let out the clutch, it's probably an axle.

Good luck with the repair

The car attempts to move but then ends up not moving at all. No noises cmon from anywhere. I'm gonna get the car in the air tonight and see what I can find.

Really sounds like the output shaft. Replace both sides with the C6Z shafts.

I'm trying to decide if its something I can do myself in my garage or maybe go thru RPM transmissions. I Built everything else on the car but rebuilding the Getrag diff. looks pretty involved and some specialty tools.

Since you don't have to mess with the ring and pinion, it's not really that difficult to rebuild the guts.

The first time I did it, I didn't even have a press. I used a long crow bar and a piece of wood I cut to fit over the spider gear to remove the pin. Now, I have a press and the proper tool.

Good luck with the repair.

Or give Rick (RKT56) a call. He's much closer to you, in Frederick, Maryland. Knows his stuff, believe me.

So I jacked the car up last night and was spinning the rear wheels. I can spin one without the other one spinning. Also I put the car in gear and the passenger side then locks up like it should but the drivers side still spins freely. So im assuming thats telling me that the driver side diff. output shaft is snapped, if thats correct let me know. Id like to order the parts before I tear it apart, Im looking at getting a complete C6 Z06 output shaft kit for both sides.

That's sounds like you've diagnosed it correctly.

Get the shafts from Gene Culley.

Have fun with your project.

He built my Trans after I broke the main output shaft into the rear. I was lucky and didn't tear up the diff. I had him upgrade it and also put in the 30 spline shaft. My rear has the c6 z06 parts as well. So right now my c5 shafts are probably gonna be my weak point in the drive train. Shoot Rick was even gonna deliver the trans to my house which is a 2.5 hour drive. I opted to meet him in Christina delware since he was going to Philly. Once you find out give him a call you won't regret it. He also tore the trans down in front of me and we looked at the gears and he made suggestions on what needed to be replaced and what was still good.

I just saw that you found the issue nice. Hopefully you get it back together soon good luck!
