Whoever designed the older generation of kooks 2" headers deserves a swift kick to the weiner.
My stubborn self insisted on wrapping them, which just made install that much harder.
Man, am I glad that's over, but a little embarrassed dropping headers in took 3 hours.

I had my exhaust guy threaten to take a box cutter to my really neat job, which I removed (I had them hot jet coated).

Thanks guys. I think I've enjoyed building the car more than I will enjoy driving it. But man, that was frustrating for what could have been so much easier with a better design.
Thanks, I've heard that over the years, but never seen the proof. I wrap all my bike exhausts, even my bikes that see offroad (mud and water exposure on a consistent basis) and have never had any of the supposed negative affects.
I guess we will see. If they crack, it'll give me a good excuse to upgrade to a more serviceable exhaust.
Today I get to finally start plugging connectors back in!

Well I did it. I changed my spark plugs. I now know why they are good for over a 100k. 3hrs of pain, scrapes (there are a lot of sharp hose clamps) my arms look like they were attacked by a mountain lion. Who ever said this is easy, must be into pain for pleasure. ;-0uche ;-). Now I'm good for another 140k or 16 years what ever comes first.

Taking care of some neglected wires on the starter. Accidentally tore my tape label off the wires and for the life of me can't recall where this small black wire goes to. It was in the same loom at the starter wires. Hmm...Attachment 47985459
Edit: this forum is great. Found the info I needed in no time.
I should have out here more often and learn a thing or two...

Thanks, it ended up being the fusible link.
Got some more done today. Played the "ah crap, I did ____ before installing ____" about 5 times. But I've learned plenty about the car. So many things I could do next time to make this so much faster.
Got the starter in and wired, crank, oil level, oil pressure sensors all connected, brake lines and clutch lines secured, wheel speed wiring ran, dipstick bent/contoured and installed, headers torqued and X pipe measured for hardware.
Attachment 47985752
Was going along pretty good until I went to install my secondary drive. Got to whip out my new portaband and play with that...which is always fun. Guess there is no stopping now.
Attachment 47985753
But then I realized my block isn't drilled (one of those things that would have been way easier before installing in the car) and nowhere to mount the jack shaft pullies. Oh boy.
Off to find a tap in the morning.

I was looking at the SS brake lines I installed and decided to replace the upper shock mounts with a set of BANSKI's.

I have a set for my CTS-V also.

I used the nylon tie method for keeping the shock compressed to remove the top mount.
Pictures show the installation of the BANSKI "bearing" replacement and the distortion of the OEM.

Installed the trunk partition and Vette tray today. Man, what a difference the partition makes on the cabin noise.
These items are extremely lightweight and fit really well. I highly recommend these items to anyone who has a Z06 who hates the tire noise on rough or concrete type roads. Makes a huge difference.

The Red Line D4 tranny oil and 75w90 diff oil worked fine. Just came home from a road trip to the National Corvette Museum this Memorial weekend. 1,100 mile road trip. By the way, theNCM is Corevette Heaven. Bowling Green KY has lots to do.
