It has been proven that aftermarket exhaust systems don't make power on stock'ish vettes

If there is...it's minimal. You won't feel any difference.

Maybe 1 or 2 hp if you're lucky. Now if you have Heads/Cam, 1 7/8" LT's, 3" off road pipe with stock axle back, that may be a minor bottle-neck...but a new 3" axle back system still won't net that much HP.

Yeah I thought about this also but my research turned up the same thing. A tuner I know told me its hard to beat the stock Z cat back.

Mufflers or cat back are for sound only. No HP at all

As measured by a dyno or even seat of your pants, it won't really give you more power. But with it being so much louder, you will always be giving it more throttle so you will think it's quicker. It will absolutely be more fun. Just ride along with someone that already has that setup first to make sure the drone doesn't bug you....

The extra weight of the non titanium system will probably out weigh any small gains seen on a stock-ish Z06.

Now if you have a cam and long tubes (or more), it might be a different story.
