Paint bubbling up on trunk lid edges
Man was I pissed. Washed my Z last Saturday and found the paint bubbled along the left and right edges, more toward the front, of the trunk lid. Paint is still intact but I can definitely see bubbles. Don't know how long it has been like that and it was very hard to see. Took to local body shop and $500 to fix. Concern is paint match, however, that area is the least visible on the car when driving. We both thought that water got into the composite during the winter and, with the extreme cold temps in the mid-atlantic, froze the moisture, thus, causing the bubbles.
Anyone one else had this problem?

There were some issues with some adhesives out gassing thru the plastic and causing the paint to bubble. This happened to my 4th gen Camaro SS. My 2000 Coupe is showing some signs of the paint bubbling on the rear hatch. If this is the issue, it should be "lines" where the trunk frame is adhered.

There was a problem with some deck lids paint bubbling. Apparently the only fix is to replace the trunk lid as there is a problem in the deck lid causing the bubbling and if the deck lid is repainted the bubbling will happen again. There are many threads on this subject.

My 2000 has too - guess it was common in early C5's. Bodyman says grind down & redo edge to fix. should be done outgassing by now. Since it's a hard bodyline paint match should be no problem. Quoted $500-$700 depending on how much edge repair has to be done.
