BTR Cam Stage 3 or 4?
I have a 02 Z06 with 25k miles and I’m looking at putting in a cam and new springs in the car. Car has LG long tubes, halltech cold air and a custom tune. Looking for a cam that sounds mean and has plenty of power, the car probably sees the track once or twice a year if that. Most driving consists of over 40mph and highway speeds. Car has otherwise stock components, t56 tranny and 3.42s in the rear. My shop recommended the BTR stage 3 or 4 cam and would like opinions of what one to choose.
Stage 3: 231/242 .617/.592 112 + 2
Stage 4: 235/242 .621/.592 111 + 3
Stage 3: 231/242 .617/.592 112 + 2
Stage 4: 235/242 .621/.592 111 + 3

They're bigger than I would use. A mean sounding lope isn't always the most fun to live with. I loved my former cam, which was a Crane 228-232@112+5 and .600 lift. It had a nice lope, but would drive off with no throttle added if needed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm-U...ature=youtu.be Comp 230/236 595/595 112+4 anything bigger prop. be hard to drive slow ,mine is right on the line . The 111 I would not go there 111 is getting into drag racking stuff ,go nuts with a 110..

I'm in the same boat as you. My shop which is AMP is suggesting I got with the BTR stage 3 kit. It all depends on your tuner for the best drivability. I trust them so this is on my list of mods to get done. They also told me they can do my heads and get some additional horsepower as well.

Im not chasing dyno numbers either, just want a very strong running car. I plan on doing heads at a later date as well so would like to pick the correct cam now. Wish I knew someone with a similar setup to see in person

Both are a little much for a nice driver IMO. You could run something in the 22x-23x 112 range and only give up 5-10hp. It would sound great and cruise nice. My fav in the C5Zs is the old White Snake Cam 227-233 112.

Any "lost" power will be at the very top of the rev range, and you give up torque in the low-mid range. Ask BTR. Brian did my Trickflows when he worked at TEA. Stock heads...wouldn't know. I did H/C at the same time.

What about this cam in comparison, looks like a popular choice
Tick Performance "SNS" torqueMAX Stage 3 Cam
Standard Lobes: 235/243 | .630"/.610" | LSA111+2

I also have a stage 4 and can vouch for its liveability. Like it's already been said, it's all in the tune. I will say the thing pulls like a freaking freight train...
