Folks it is hard for me to believe that so many people will let the Z51 constraint stop you from buying a Corvette. The Z51 is a nice option but it is not the end of the world not to have it. You are looking a two tenths of a second better 0 to 60 times and you will need a trap clock to tell the diff. I know that everyone is not going to take their car to the track so how will you know the diff. in times. The larger brakes are nice but 90% of you will never need bigger brakes in every day driving. Same thing with all of the coolers. The std. car has more HP, stopping power and handling than most of you will ever need. Stop beating your self up over Z51 and buy a Vette and start enjoying it, spring is almost here.

Everyone Remember, when looking for a Z06, unless you are going to utilize its capabilites, Rick would prefer you purchase a less profitable model
P.S. Just in case it isn't obvious, I'm just kidding around with you

Curious, how many non Z51 cars are sitting on your lot that you are trying to sell

I'll wait for Z51. Like others have said, I'm spending 50k here, I'm going to get what I want, exactly. Even if the actual real world performance differences are minimal, if I don't get Z51 I will always feel that I am missing out on more performance. And it's that feeling in my head, regardless of performance differences, that really matters. I want to be totally satisfied with my purchase.
I hate to say it, but if I can't get Z51, I will wait or not buy at all, at least not from GM. I think others will feel similar.

Other then that I agree with Rick.
Whem my Z comes in, the wholly rotors come OFF and get turned into boat anchors or maybe a nice pen holder for my desk, the 19" wheels come OFF after the break in period. 18" all around.
Car lowered to an approprate height & corner weighted.
Seats OUT replaced with something more suitable, harness bar and 6-point belts.
Then we take it too the track for a work out.

I would think that someone spending 50K or more for a car will want to get what they want to get, regardless. No offense, I know you are just trying to sell Corvette's but some folks are picky about how they spend 50+ grand.

Rick, You, of all people, should know that a Corvette buyer wants what he wants - end of story. Not good - not bad, just the way it is.
If GM would offer the same package w/o the gearing, maybe 80% of the buyers (those who really don't race) would buy that package.
It's GM who's spanking the monkey. There is a way around this problem, and they are ignoring it, and the dealers are letting them off the hook. IMHO. If you guys and your friends at the big K on the east coast screamed loud enough GM would listen. They wouldn't have to recertify or anything like that - just make a Z52 available like they did in the late eighties.
Complain to them brother.

And for all the posers with the Z51, whom will never even take it to the track, get a life. The Z51 option has been way, way overdone, especially for those that have the Vette so equipted when it will always be just a DD.
