Default Wheel weight adhesive residue... How do i remove!!!

I had my tires balanced at the dealer because my steering wheel was vibrating at speeds exceeding 70mph. That fixed the problem.

However, when I was washing my car I discoverd that the adhesive residue from the old weights was still there. It is black and thick.

Any recommendations on how to remove it quickly and safely?

Mineral spirits might do the trick, just be careful.

I find that lighter fluid is a universal solvent.

Stoner's "Tarminator" tar grease and sap remover - this stuff works as well as their "Invisible Glass" glass cleaner, and that's saying something! Goo Gone would be another thing that should be fairly safe.

Default Florida solution

Since, like me, you live in Miami, we can still buy chlorinated aerosol brake cleaner at the auto parts store. It is illegal in California and other blue states. This has a lot of perchloroethylene (dry cleaning fluid) and it will take off most organic dirt without harming paint, polish clear coat, or chrome.

Also good for taking spots out of neckties without paying the cleaners $9.95 to clean a lousy necktie.

Really, I would have never thought to use alcohol for anything other than it's intended use......I think your suggestion, although a good one, can be considered some form of alcohol abuse.

with wd40 and GooGone from a post below. I have used these to remove said wheel weight adhesive and they will do the trick with alot of elbow grease.

Thanks to all.

I dedided to use WD40 for no other reason than that I had some. Worked well, but had to give it some elbow grease.

Now off to get me calipers powdercoated.
