Default **Vettes and Jets on the USS Lexington**

Hello all,
I am writting you to tell you about this great event called Vettes and Jets on the Lex. It's going to be a great event that will allow you and 299 other Corvette owners to drive thier Vettes up on to the flight deck of the USS Lexington . We are planning on having the Guiness Book of World Records out there to certify this event as it has never been done before. Cost is $100 with all procedes going to the USO and the Wounded Warrior Project. This is an event to push Corvettes even further along the map and to help out the men and women that give everything for our freedoms. Mark your calanders for September 15th to be in sunny Corpus Christi, TX. to take part in this wonderful event. Participants will recieve a T-shirt, military style dog tags, and a certificate all to certify that they were 1 of the 300. This is no ordinary aircraft carrier...she has more wartime honors than any other ship ever, she has movies, books, etc. made about her and with her. This would be an honor to have our Corvettes out on her flight deck right along side of the different fighter jets that have flown from her bow. Registration starts May 1st at 12:01am and what a photo opportunity this would be. This is a full weekend event and for more info and how to registar go to www.vettesandjetsonthelex.com Hope to see you all there!!!

I generally don't do shows with my daily driver, but I might just have to do this one. I spent the night on the Lex with my Webelos scouts awhile back. The Lexington is a very fun, educational, and moving experience. A very well-run operation with very cool tours and exhibits. Very good time. Combining that with Vettes could only be cooler.

P.S. I don't see how 300 Vettes will fit on the flight deck with the jets, though, must be planning to pack the deck. Any plans for an aerial photo of the Vette-packed deck?

Have you posted this in the SW section? Might get more responses.
See you there! I haven't been on the Lady since the sixties when she was in Pensacola. NAS held Easter sunrise services on the flight deck annually.

Take pictures!

This will be an awesome picture opportunity! Especially if they let you up in the tower!

That sounds awesome! If it wasn't 4,000 miles away, I'd be there. I'm sure you will get a full response.

It sounds like a great event....good luck with it!

Hey, do you think if I made it there they could hook my C6 up to the launch catapult? I'd like to see what kind of 0 to 60 time I could get.

From the website it does not sound like anyone will "drive their Vettes up on the the flight deck":

Entry Fee of $100.00 includes: Lift and Removal of (1) one Corvette onto the flight deck of the U.S.S. Lexington...
Still sounds like a neat experience.

The pier ends at the lift at the Hanger Deck level, and the Vettes will have to be lifted from there to the flight deck, just like the planes. Because the lift sits between the pier and the Hanger deck public entrance, the Vette lift will need to be done while the Lex is closed to the public.

Yes we have done thurough measuring of the space available for the flight deck and we could actually hold 312.

Not true. Each owner will drive tier Vette up the loading ramp and on to the elevator. From there the ownwers and vettes will be lifted to the flight deck. Then the owners will drive on the flight deck to thier assigned spot. We at the CC Corvette Club want each participate to have the best experiance as possible. Thanks!

I am the events coordinator for the Corpus Christi Corvette Club. The Corvettes will be up there all day with loading starting at 5:00am CST This will give us enough time to load everyone and get them in place before the carrier opens to the public. We will start unloading them at 5:30pm CST. There will be plenty to do with several events going on Part of your enrty fee includes tickets for 2 too tour the Lexington. The average tour takes 4 to 5 hours. Plus they have an IMAX theater onboard that is included with your entry. The ship is located on the CC North Beach so you can hang out and get a tan or go and tour all of the gift shops. There is several restraunts and all of this is within walking distance from the ship. The host hotel (another one is in the works too) is a 10 minute walk away too. I hope this helps.
