Default C5 looks sleeker than c6?

why, with the exception of the headlights, does the c5 look sleeker, and more modern (newer) than the C6?

Sleek is a subjective term - but I'd go ahead and get those glasses checked.

The C5 is a little lower overall (and longer) than the C6 so that could give one the 'feeling' that it is sleeker but uhh, the C6 is pretty damn sleek.
I do believe that a sports car should be small and the C6 being over 5 inches shorter than the C5 mean an awful lot to me in that regard.
That being said, I still love C5s.

I think the C6 is "sleeker" than the C5, but I liked the wider stance of the C5 better.

I agree that the C5 'looks' wider, but it's pretty close... Until you drive the Z up.

C5 - 73.6"
C6 - 72.6"
C6Z - 75.9"

re 'sleeker' - that's definately a judgement call. The C5 is certianly less angular. IMO, the C6 looks more current and tidy - largely from the shorter rear overhang. I am going to miss the BSM's on my C5!

I think they are both nice cars. The C6 just looks a little more up to date than the C5 though.

I never owned a C5 but, as soon as they came out, I had to have a C6. The shorter, more taut look of the C6 really grabbed me ... much more than the C5's styling ever did.

It is amazing when you look at the morphing pic that HIRISC posted. Take a look at the back end. I see similar things when my girl starts/stops her jogging routine.

Looks and facts are two different things. The C6 has a lower drag coefficient so in reality the C6 is "sleeker". As far as looks are concerned that's a subjective matter and in the eye of the beholder.

But don't confuse facts with opinions. We all know what that will get you.

Stopped by the dealer yesterday for routine service. When they were through, they parked my C6 next to a C5 Z06 who was in for the same thing. I was comparing the 2 side by side and will agree that the C5 does "appear" to be the sleeker car. I think the smoother curves and the length of the C5 lends an elongated look that the C6 just doesn't have. That said, I still like my C6 better.

Clearly a matter of opinion. But, I owned 2 C4s and passed on the C5. Really couldn't make myself happy with it's bulbuous buttox. When I saw the C6 (car carrier commercial around superbowl '05 time), I instantly knew I "needed" one. I love the lines, the new eyes, and the new definition they've given the rear end. Plus, the performance boost sends it over the top.

The C5 is a wonderful machine, without doubt, but the C6 certainly is a better one and, IMHO, one of the more beautiful cars on the road. I can't wait for the C7.

That is probably why I like the C6 styling better. I like the more Stringray look with the higher front fenders. Overall they haven't made a Corvette I don't like.

I actually had the opposite effect. I had to have a C5 the minute I saw it, and the C6 "grew" on me. I definately think it's subjective but would agree that the C6 has a more modern and taut look to it.

That's because the C5 is sleeker.

It's lower, wider, and the peaks of the fenders and nose are rounded.

I like them both. The C5 is more sensual, and yes sleeker, where as the C6 is had a more toned/buff body. IMO

Although the C5 is 5 inches longer, the C6 has a 1 inch longer wheelbase and is almost 70 lbs lighter.

I agree that the C6 definitely looks more modern. When I see my car parked beside a bunch of my friend's C6s, I definitely feel like I'm driving an old clunker, even though my car is still very nice.

When I first saw the C5 I did not like it though, it took a while to grow on me. Same with the C6, I really did not like it at all when I first saw pictures of it, but the more I saw them in person, the more I ended up really loving it. And right now to me I think the C6 is the nicest design of all Corvettes (I even prefer it over the 63-67s, which a lot of people regard as being the best style of Corvette ever)

I had to have a C4, C5 and C6 when I saw them for the first time. The c6 is more of a lean machine. C5 is your old fat girl friend. Now you have a new trophy wife.

Comparisons of dimensions and drag coefficients notwithstanding the appearance of "sleek" is subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The C5 never quite did it for me the way the C6 did....in my mind the C6 was definitely the 'sleeker' machine.
