Default low profile long reach jack advice needed

I have read the threads on jacks and was hoping for some advice. I am looking for a jack that can reach the cross members without driving up on planks of wood. It appears that the Northern Tool cross member adapter is no longer available; however, Summit Racing has one available here:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-918008/

As for jacks what is the opinion of the following two jacks, which look remarkably similar.

Blackhawk $279.99
http://www2.northerntool.com/auto-re...tem-144795.htm

ATD jack $226.07
http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Desig...1528938&sr=8-1

Questions:

1) Will the above jacks fit the cross member adapter without modification? Minor modification?

2) Is there an aluminum low profile jack that can reach the cross members and costs <$300?

3) Other jack recommendations that can reach the cross members easily?

Not sure about those jacks, but I use this one, I like it because the lift pad is square and not round.

What ever jack you get, there isn't going to be one low profile enough to go under from the front.

Not true...either the ATD ref'd above or it's clone, the Omega 29023 will both clear the front and reach the jack point. It's a heavy sucker though at about 125lbs!

I should have added a disclaimer: lowered, no bushings, unless there are jacks low pro < 1"

I have a small alum jack from harbor freight I think I paid somewhere near 70 for it.

It's just low enough to access the front jacking point under the engine from the side, I lift the car a few inches with that and gain access for my heavy 2 ton jack, which I feel much more safe working with.

The small jack does fine on it's own, but it is not something I would trust if I had to slide under the car and do work which might require some time, but for a tire change I would trust it.

Few questions about the aluminum racing jack from Harbor Freight:

1) Can the lift pad be removed to use the cross beam connector from Summit?
2) Can you lift from just one of the rear lift points without a cross beam connector?
3) On a non-lowered car, can you reach the rear lift points without driving up on wood planks?
4) On a non-lowered car, can you reach the front jacking points without driving up on wood planks? It appear from your post that accessing the front lift points can be done from the side and to get at it from the front will likely involve raising the front end a bit.

This is the crossbeam adapter that you really want. It's low profile, lightweight and is machined to fit the crossmember..hard to come by though

Can you please reply who manufactures the machined cross beam adapter? Perhaps where you purchased it from?

I bought it from a forum member who made a few extras a few years back when he made a few for himself...let me see if I can dig up his name. He wasn't in business to build these though and since it's machined from a solid chunk of aluminum they were not cheap.

Summit also sells a low profile jack which looks similar to the other ones

When I lift the car, I prefer lifting it from the center of the cross member then throw some jack stands under it. The H/F jack I have can easily get under the preferred lift points even with pucks attached with the car sitting on the ground, hope this helps. Reasonable price and I use the poop out of it. I'm sure there are better out there, but for the price, I dig it

When I have to work under the car I drive onto boards and use my 'heavy' jack with the crossbeam adaptor (augmented with jack stands, etc.). I use a Craftsman 2-ton aluminum jack modified so the pin on the adaptor beam seats fully onto the jack 'saddle.' Granted, having to drive onto lumber is an inconvenience but it's minor. If I just need to remove a wheel or work in a wheel well I have a smaller jack and I lift the car from the side...no lumber required. Better yet...have a good friend with a home lift.

OK guys, I located the forum member who originally built these adapters. I am checking to see if he is interested in a short production run. Here is the hard point...these are a quality billet piece, not something that is knocked out in China or somewhere else where they work for $0.02 per hour. I paid the man $50.00 for this probably 2 years ago and haven't regretted that purchase one bit. I use it all of the time. If he is willing to crank out a few more are you guys willing to pay the price, whatever it may be?

Default Yes

Count me in if it will fit my Blackhawk, one inch pin, with no mods required. The Summit Racing adaptor does not fit.

I bought this one from Harbor Freight. It's great and reaches the cross member perfectly. Pretty heavy though.

I have two that I haven't yet tried on the car. The orange one is from Costco and the black one is from Harbor Freight. The cool thing about the HF one is the foot pump.

The HF jack is now a closeout for $80 so who knows how long it will last but you can see the difference in length, height is pretty much the same. It is heavy, the website says 110 lbs but I am positive the box listed something much heavier.
