Default Vette bucking when shifting from 1st to 2nd

Hello, One momth now in my bone stock 08 manual Corvette and I have notice under hard acceleration when I take first gear almost to redline that the car bucks or stutters when shifting to second. Is this my technique? is t the taction control kicking in? Or do I need to run it by the shop? Many thanks and Merry Christmas. Kevin

I'll bet it's just hitting the rev limiter...feels like the power is being cut.

When you have the engine revving at that level, you're not going to notice a smooth shift to the next gear, I'm wondering why you are running that kind of rpm in 1st. gear, unless you are at the track or doing burnouts, you should be shifting much sooner.

Could be TC. Try it with TC off. Just blowing the carbon out.....right!

Would be my guess as I have done this myself.

You have to shift at a little lower RPM than you have been.

Your either bouncing off the rev limiter or torque management is kicking in or combo of both. Try to shift a little sooner and release the clutch with a smooth and quick movement. If you have a slight hesitation on your release, torque management will kick in to protect your powertrain from any abrupt drivetrain stress. It takes a little practice, but you will get the hang of it, I did!

would it be insulting to tell you that you're shifting too late in the power band and thus hitting the rev limiter at redline? that's my thought on it.

Thanks for all the input... and no I am not offended. I am still getting used to this beast. It has some different behavior than my 911. Thank you . Kevin

Do you know what happens when you hit the rev-limiter? I wouldn't make a habit out of it but try running it out in 1st or 2nd gear without shifting and see what happens when you bump the rev-limiter (Note: when you hit it back off the throttle). This should tell you if that's the issue or its something else. Once you've experienced hitting the rev-limiter...don't do it again!

You may be hitting the rev limiter, or more likely you are shifting too slow at high RPMs.

Sometimes she'll buck when ya don't use yer stick just right. Try to lighten up a bit...you know, the torque/power curve flattens out at some point prior to redline ( I'd have to look it up to know. )

You know, sometimes it gets to be "too much" and that's when you have to lighten up your touch. She's just lettin' y'all know in her own special way. You'd get yer feelins hurt if she came right out 'n tol ya.
