Can I get OnStar on an '05?
My car pretty is well loaded. Has everything but NAV. Don't see any buttons on the rear view mirror for OnStar. Did GM offer OnStar for the '05? If so where is the connect button?

You might want to check with a dealer. Your car was built right when they were converting from analog to digital systems. On Star had a replacement module for cars that had an analog system so the owner could upgrade to digital and still use the On Star after the beginning of 2008. The cost of the module and installation was $220 but it also included one year of On Star. Maybe there is something similar for a car like yours.

And just FYI, at CES in January OnStar announced their "add on" system for any car. It doesn't integrate with the car like the factory unit but......

I have it on my 05'. I wish I didn't. It comes with a big honkin black box mounted above the windshield next to the rear view mirror.

Hey OP...I will sell you mine if you give me yours.
J/K...the real problem with my '05 OnStar is that you have to get the DIGITAL upgrade to make it work nowadays and I have no idea what that costs because I don't really want it.

My Vette' doesn't have Onstar, but my daily Pontiac came equipped with it, and the service is a real trip. Upon new car delivery, was reminded several time's by the dealer to push the blue button and register, but never did. Several phone call and mail reminder's followed, but ignored them. Then audio reminder's coming over the car's stereo system, followed by me pulling the Onstar system's power fuse. Really couldn't care if the system was availible to me or not, but do take offense of trying to shove this thing down my throat. Really don't care to see another blue button any time soon.

I wouldn't mind having the phone part but I don't want to enroll for $200/yr to get it. I know about the thread that talks about that but according to OnStar web site a sub is required for the phone minutes.

As my car evolved into a track car at some point I stopped renewing OnStar. It might be different now but the last time I renewed the cost was something like $140...just pennies a day.

Talked to the dealer today. 215 dollars to up grade. That includes one year of onstar. Think I might keep the money and put it to use for a windscreen.
