Default How to - Removing C6 rear spoiler

I'm going to get a full width rear spoiler for my black 2010 C6. How do you get to the small stock rear spoiler bolts so you can R & R to the new full width spoiler? That stock rear spoiler is really just a 3rd brake light housing, it's so small,

Thanks

Just take out the tail lights and you can access the nuts that hold the OEM spoiler in place.

You only need to remove the two inner lights. There are four 10mm nuts holding the spoiler on. You won't be able to remove it until you unplug the harness...

remove the tailights with a torx driver. One torx screw at the top of each light. Then just tilt the top of the light out and remove it. Be careful when you replace them that you don't push the clip at the top off into the rear fascia. Also, use a rag between the each taillight and the rear fascia so you don't scratch it. (The taillights have to just hang by the wires).
While you're changing the spoiler, you may want to install taillight seals. (see southerncarparts).
I think the spoiler nuts are about 10mm size. a small socket works great.

Thank you Gents.

If the new full width rear spoiler has bolts at the outer ends, I'm not worried about drilling holes. Once the full width rear spoiler is installed, I don't foresee removing it so no worries about drilling new holes. Just gotta remember, measure twice, or more...............drill once.

Looks like Gene has them at a great price, $250.00.

Yup. And if you need to buy a 10mm socket, be sure to get a deep socket. A standard depth one usually doesn't work for this job because the threaded areas on the spoiler (that the nuts are screwed onto) are too long.

^^^^^yes another good point...and no matter how careful you're gonna drop a nut...Then you're gonna cuss....then find it after you invent a couple new words...Keep the kiddies inside.

What if u don't want to drill your cars body? That doesn't really sound like fun. Can you use double sided tape on the ends?

Drilling the rear cover is like a hot knife through butter. Not the least bit hard. You can use tape, but really????

Plus there is no need to measure at all. Put a dab of paint or your lipstick onthe end bolts and stick the 4 inner bolts in the factory holes and touch the outer bolts to the cover and it leaves exact marks.
