If you're buying a car because of what other people think then you're buying for the wrong reasons. Buy because you want it and like it. In the end, you need to be happy and enjoy what you're drving.
I have never got out of any of my vette's without a smile on face. Even for just a quick ride.

I'd drive anything, from a pink Mini to a white Corvette! From a blue Miata, to whatever exists that's not luxury vehicles (Ferrari, Lambo and such)

My first Corvette was a 2003 Z06 when I was 23 years old. I just sold that and got into a 2006 Z06 at 27 years old a few weeks ago. Both were and are my daily drivers.

With all due respect, worrying about the lame stereotypes of others demonstrates your insecurity, lack of self-confidence and your extreme need for conformity. Accordingly, I respectfully suggest the Corvette is not the car for you. Perhaps a Porsche, Prius or Smartcar would elevate your social status amongst your peers....the 'in-crowd' you hang with. Perhaps with age you'll attain the level of maturity and self-assurance that will allow you to purchase a car based on its attributes and your preferences without fear of becoming a social outcast.
I won't waste too much time on the stereotype subject but suffice it to say while many Corvette owners are 'older' men not all Corvette owners are old, gold chain wearing, hairy-chested, tattooed fuddy-duddies who derive more enjoyment washing and waxing their Garage Queen than actually driving the car (on their 'spirited' Sunday morning drive). Not that there's anyting wrong with that but Corvette owners come in a range of ages and they enjoy their car's in a variety of ways. If you're ever in southern Arizona PM me. I'd be happy to take you to a road course event where you'll see an age spectrum of serious Corvette racers. FWIW virtually all the 'older' Corvette racers I know are devoid of gold chains, tattoos and they're amongst the fastest cars on the track. So much for stereotyping.
As for the Corvette, it's performance, looks and price speaks for itself. Perhaps one day you'll be able to enjoy your own Corvette free of the constraints of conformity.

31 yrs old....here's my car.....yes...it sticks out. Regardless, I'm a grown man and don't rely on public opinion nor people who don't know me to influence my choices.
Do YOU man....society doesn't hug your wife, raise your kids or make your money for you.....that's all you my friend

I bought my Corvette when I was 27. Yeah who cares what people think, I bought it for my enjoyment. I get nothing but compliments. When they see the car and how nice it is you won't hear the stupid mid life crisis crap. As others have said, you only see a majority of people being older because that's typically when most can afford them.

I really don't think owning a vette has anything to do with age.
Sure, most owners may be mid-aged, but usually it's because when they were raising families, buying their homes, setting up a college fund or 2, a 2 seater car was not a practical vehicle for hauling kids to and from their activities. Some people were lucky, and had enough cash to have a vette, and 2 or 3 other practical vehicles, but the so called middle class didn't have that option.
You will probably see that once the kids are on their own, that Dad or Mom, or both will then go out and treat themselves with the American classic Car.

"What's a young guy to do?" Simple answers, supercharge it w/headers... stay away from "shine and go" car events, and never ever find yourself arguing with someone which wax is better...

I'm 30 and on my second corvette. I don't wear gold chains and I guess I haven't hit puberty yet as I haven't got much chest hair.

I am under 30 and the Corvette has never been an old man car to me. You have to keep in mind with the price of these cars, it attracts a certain age demographic that can afford it. That same demographic also buys GT500s, GTRs, Vipers, ect.
Bottom line. Are you buying the car to make yourself happy or to impress others? If it is the latter, then stick with a BRZ.
Can be worse though. You can be one of those Ferrari owners that have Rolexs on them, Ferrari Hat, Shirt, Jacket and socks.

I bought my first Corvette 41 years ago this month. I was 18 years old and serving in the US Navy. I am now 59 and have always had a love affair with the Corvette. Don't worry about stereotype's....buy what you like, regardless of age!

I have always liked and wanted Corvettes since i was a teenager. Now I am a 29 year old who makes a decent income and I can finally afford one. But everyone i come across seems to think that this is the kind of vehicle for old men who like to wear gold chains with hairy chests and tattoos. Kind of like Jersey Shore but now we have senior citizens on Viagra driving these beautiful machines. Are there any young professionals out there who drive or own these things? Also would i stick out like a sore thumb if i had a yellow c6 Z06???
