Do Headlights have a serial numbers traceable to a VIN Number
Is it possible to trace a headlight assembly to a VIN number?
Does a C6 Headlight Assembly have a serial number on them and if so can it be trace to a cars VIN number to find the owner?
Thanks

I have to admit that is one of the stranger questions I've seen. Why do you ask? Did someone steal yours? Do you have some blackmarket lights and want to know if they will provide proof in court? You're worried about the NCRS review in 20 years?

They may have a bar code sticker on them (I can't remember when I watched them put on two of my cars at BG) but that would only specify a PN and maybe a production date. Most of the molded parts have a date/time stamp (the clock dial you often see) in the die itself. You are good to go with that "flea market" find. J/K

ANSWER: A Headlight can not be traced to a specific Car
Background: The winner is : icntdrv55, A C7 headlight was found in my neighborhood at an accident site and they ask me if it could be traced to a car. Then I quickly went to the garage to make sure my C7 still had it two lights, it did

If that is the question then with a complete headlight assembly the production month imprint in the plastic will narrow the VIN range to a few thousand. The color will narrow it further and with the low volume of Corvettes the VIN possibilities should be only a couple of hundred. If you assume it is a local car then, yes, it should be possible to narrow it down to a single car especially if it is one of the less popular colors.

I'm pretty sure all C7 headlights are black, so far. Thinking about doing body color on those to break up the monotony...
May just see who has had to buy a headlight recently...
