Anyone know where the windshield wiper controls are?...I thought they were an option!

Funny story this reminded me of. Our town doesn't exactly have a ton of super high end cars. We (amazingly) have a Porsche dealer, which just so happened to have a Ferrari California for sale. We also amazingly enough got a bunch of snow a while back. THEY LEFT IT OUT IN THE SNOW. I'm sure it's fine and all, but really they couldn't have pulled it into a showroom and let something else sit outside? This particular dealership also is a VW and Volvo dealer, you'd think they could have at least swapped it into one of those places.

Anyways, I think the point of "it helps to match buyers and sellers" is the winner here. Some people will pay more for a clean car, others want the bargain of the century. Neither way is incorrect, just different. It's like picking between a blonde or a brunette, personal preferences is all.

Always been my thoughts on this

I will not drive mine in the rain if I can avoid it just to keep it clean but I do not loose any sleep over if caught out in the rain, mine is not a DD so it is easy to make that decision

In fact the weekend I bought mine we were in Pigeon Forge TN and poured **** out of a boot ALL WEEKEND LONG and the entire ride home. One thing was it proved to me NO LEAKS any where

I avoid driving mine in the rain for one reason. Because the likelyhood of a collision is much higher. Just ask a body shop owner. They pray for rain.

WRT dirt, I don't worry about anything that can be washed off.

I wonder if anyone would believe me if I said it was never driven in the rain...

and I don't consider this as rain...more like a monsoon...

So true, people just do not think....

Sorry if this offends anyone. Unless you drive it one must ask why did you buy it. Driving it dose not equal once in awhile on a weekend, it equals enjoying doing what you do, AutoX, Tracking, Grand Touring America. The car was engineered to be drivin and drivin hard. Driving equals maintenance, I think that is what scares people to leave them in garage with "never seen rain, "low original mileage", "all records" (which is easy if you don't drive it). Me, I track, show and shine, caravan, and clean and maintain it myself. A year round hobby.

Car today will never be that lost 1953, 0r 63, 68 because they were made in great numbers and are very well manufactures to last. So, instead of think yours will be the next big $1,000,000 great find....go ahead and drive after all you paid for it.

Go ahead America and drive your Corvette in the sun and rain it will not dissolve into a puddle of guuuuuuuuu!

Exactly. None of the collector and/or muscle cars I've owned had/have even seen rain or snow. Yes rain can dirty up the underneath as well as the engine compartment. When you go to sell that car (like I have done) potential buyers can tell how well taken care of the vehicle has been which hopefully translates into better selling potential and a faster sale.

A C6 isn't a collector car. Not even close. It's a car. It's depreciating whether you drive it or use it as garage art. It's depreciating whether you ever drive it in the rain or not. Having it "clean" underneath doesn't translate into more $$$ when you sell it.

In fact, if you put a lot of weight into how clean it is underneath and under the hood you're not a very smart buyer. Used car dealers have long known that a quick engine compartment steam cleaning makes a lot of buyers think the car has been taken care of better. That's one of the oldest tricks in the books to sell cars to unsophisticated buyers.

I could pay $100 to a detailer to have them make the underside and engine compartment look like it just came off the showroom floor even though it's been driven in the rain (and SNOW - OMG!) and nobody would be able to tell the difference, nor would it change how I've driven and maintained it.

If you put much stock into how clean it is underneath you're not a very smart car buyer.

It was already rained on when on the lot, it rained on the test drive,

I'm not saving it for anybody, I'm enjoying it.

After seven years, it still cleans up nice.

I've always dreamed of having a completely spotless "special" vehicle that I'd be able to go to a cruise-in or car show and be proud of. When I found my Z06 I found that dream. If it was ever driven in a lot of rain or wet road, it would take days of detailing to clean and even then it would never be as clean as before. It's not my primary car so I don't HAVE to drive in the rain nor do I want to spend that much time cleaning it afterward.

I buy my cars to drive. If I buy one to sell, I intend to make a profit, not just take a lesser loss because I didn't drive it.

I never believe a statement like "never driven in the rain".

Even if you never start out driving it if it's raining, it's unlikely it's never been caught in a thunderstorm or a passing shower.

My 2 cents.

I'm one of those "fair-weather" drivers. If it's raining I drive my DD. If I do decide to drive the Vette, and it starts raining while I'm out, it has wipers and I clean it up. No problem.

Each person treats their car in a way that pleases them. Mine has seen rain, but is still very clean. I've placed 1st at several car shows and a 2nd place at a car show that was judged by Bowling Green technicians (Vette's on the River, Paducah, KY) scoring a 98/100!. I have also taken a Best in Show once. It's a car and cleans up rather nicely.

Oh, BTW I have 72,200 miles on her...

Everyone has their own opinion ,as you can read here.I know vette owners that have never put a water hose to their car.Just some vette guy's take their cars too serious. With the products on the market today,it's not hard to clean it after it gets rained on.

If I were to buy a used one. That would be a selling point because
I have no intention of driving a vette in bad weather. The
under carriage of mine looks like the day it left the plant.

9k on an 06 so it avoided any thunderstorm or shower in the area
thank to weather radar

Default driven in the rain?

I'd rather buy a used car that has been babied, like not being driven in the rain, tells me this car has not been abused and deffently is clean. that been said, once it was mine it would be driven in the rain or shine.:cheers
