Default CAGS (skip shift delete) install. Dummy won't plug in and it doesn't work.

So it shows up in the mail ... From West Coast Corvette.. My CAGS eliminator. This day is almost as exciting as the day I bought my car. I jack up the car, plug the the long end into the harness. But then I go to plug in the dummy and it won't go. I try every which way to no avail. I am a mechanic, this should be easy.

Anyway I just say F*CK it and leave the dummy out. I want to try it out.

Jump in, and..... the skip shift doesn't even work. Still have the light sometimes and it still kicks me into 4th. If I was rich, I would take a sledge hammer to the car for this. I buy a manual tranny to have full f*cking control. I know some guys say "they know how to deal with it" blah blah f*cking blah..

I don't want to double clutch, I don't want to take note of my RPM, I want complete freedom.

Anyone else had issues ? did they send me the wrong one ?

Just remove the actuator fuse, and replace it with a blown smart fuse.

Done!

The 1-4 Shift light will still come on, but the linkage will shift from 1st to 2nd, just as smooth as you please.

Maybe my thread will help.

There was a minor manufacturing problem 3 years ago so probably not your issue but.....maybe. See post 13:

hnmmm... I jacked up the car and considering that nobody on the instruction threads said anything about mistaking the cags for the reverse solenoid, I figure Im in th cags. And if im not, ill be the 1st to admit i was wrong.

there is a R solenoid ?

This partially answers my F*CKING issues.

Why in Gods earth would nobody on the Youtube or the F*CKING threads say anything about the fact that there is a F*cking temp sensor on the drivers side of the tranny ? I jack up the car, the first thing staring me in the face is a 2 wires going into my tranny. And that is what the insro's say to use.

Temp sensor on a manual tranny ??? Thats a new one on me.

Now I am too drunk to test drive the car after I realize that there is clearly 2 solendoinds on the drivers side that one could clearly confuse one with the other

get er tomorrow i guess

The CAGS solenoid is on the driver side and at the far rearward end of the tranny near the diff and up fairly high on the side. The reverse lockout solenoid as I remember is on top of the tranny near its front. The temperature sensor connection is often used as the Fill port for the tranny fluid and its on the driver side as well but fairly low on the mid-side.

I did the same thing. I`ll have to go under there again. Its hard to believe that a sports car would have this.

Drunking on your car while working is not a good idea.

Also, note that once the CAGS disconnect is installed, the 1->4 light will still light up when the conditions are right, but with the CAGS disconnect installed you can shift into any gear you want when the 1->4 light is lit. I got mine from Zip Corvette and it installed without a snag. There are multiple similar solenoids though, so make sure you have the right one.

Smart fuse is the way to go....took all of 2 mins to install. Picked mine up at Autozone two years ago and no problems.....works great

Just blow the fuze so the LED light will illuminate. The current draw across the LED fools the CAGS and causes it to not activate.

The same thing happened to me. I finally determined there had to be another connector and then I found the correct located up higher. It took me 30 minutes to do a 5 minute job!!!.

I had the same problem with my CAGS delete from West Coast Corvette. First one gave me a check engine light, so I sent it back for a new one. Second one worked for a few weeks, and then stopped working. Finally I just got it deleted with my tune, and I couldn't be happier.

To CAGS (skip shift delete) install. Dummy won't plug in and it doesn't work.

Bought mine from ZIP over nine years ago. I installed it with no problem.

I didn't know I have a transmission temperature gauge. How do I access it?

That shot clearly shows the "SKIP SHIFT" tag on the cable
