Don't know how to reply to the question
I always liked the Vette and occasionally would say to myself that would be fun to have one someday but really never put much time and energy into coveting a Vette.
In my 50's now and last fall actually thought about it enough to start researching used ones and when I realized how affordable they were had one in the garage within 2 weeks of shopping.
So what's my answer....all my life....or two weeks?

First 'Vette
Bought our first 'Vette at 34, in 1976, a '67 Roadster with A/C. I sold my wife on the idea that these cars appreciate, so that when our two boys are ready for College, we'd have the money for them when we sold the car. Fast forward to 1981, and bought the second one for her. It was a '81 4 speed Coupe. Then in 2003, we bought a '96 LT4 Coupe. In 2013 we bought a new Grand Sport, and just love the car. Will there be another Corvette in our future? I don't know, she's really happy with this one. When we test drove it, she was two blocks from the Dealer and said, "This is the one"! We had driven 4 or 5 other 'Vette's and chose this one. There is 10,000 miles on it now, and it still pleases us when we are in it! No regrets!

Saw my first vet up close when a good friend's neighbor drove up with a red '73; I was 16 ('76); fell in love with them & bought my first, a '72, 5 years later ('81). Had it for a year, sold it right after my daughter was born. Didn't get my next until 16 years later, an '83 I completely restored. Since then I've owned 3 more ... an '86, an '87 Callaway Twin Turbo and our current '06 the only one bought new).

Bought my first Vette in 2005 when I was 55 yrs. old. Hadn't "waited" at all. I was never really a Vette enthusiast. The only reason why I bought it was because it was an untampered, low mileage, numbers matching 69 427/390hp M21 4 speed coupe. An old friend of mine had owned it for 15 years and was selling it because his wife hated the car. Go figger. My major contribution to the car was having it repainted to the original color in modern 2 stage paint. The original paint was spider webbed (yeah, I know, but that "patina" bs is just an excuse to not do anything IMO). I owned it for about seven years and sold it at auction in Monterey. Somehow something must have rubbed off from that old C3 and I found myself shopping for another Vette in March of this year. Bought the 09 on April 3. Whole lot more car than that 427 was, but, alas, it's still depreciating. Still, I miss the sound of that big block rumbling to life in the garage on a morning I was taking it out for a spin. A sound that the LS3 with stock exhaust can never match.

Saw a split window '63 Coupe that would have been the perfect car in 1964. Wife said I needed to wait - - baby on the way. Finely got a C5 in 1997. About a third of a century later. We now have a 2010 C6.

In 1990 I bought a well-used 1972.
So, around 35 years.

I got my first vette at 25 in 2001. Leased a loaded up coupe blue in color, black leather, chrome wheels, LOADED. I loved that car. Then years later I got a 1996 collectors edition LT4 which was sentimental to me as my father had a 1996 coupe that I loved. I now have my c6 vert 6 speed and I just love it. I am not a fan of the c7 exterior which is great, saves my wallet

I was watching the Super Bowl when Chevy first announced their 2005 lineup of cars and the corvette comes in towards the end, My reaction spoken out loud was "I'm buying that car one day" fast forward ten or so years and I bought my very own red c6 and I couldn't be happier.

Just curious. Did anyone wait as long as I did?
I saw my first Corvette, (a new 1958), in 1958.
It was a high school graduation gift to a guy I knew who was 17 years old. I was 15 at the time.
It was given to him by his wealthy contractor father.
As you can imagine, everyone in school was seething with jealousy!
After raising a family, paying for several houses and mortgages, putting 2 girls through college, etc., etc., I finally got my first 'vette delivered in January, 2013.
A brandy new Grand Sport. It took me 55 years to realize the dream.
I'm certain most of you didn't have to wait nearly that long.
I'm still smilin' ....

How long did I wait?
The first Corvette I drove was a friends 1954, 6cyl, 2 speed power glide!
I was 18 at the time, 1958, fast forward to 1960, and I owned a 1958 TR3A...To young to afford/ support this car.
Moving on to 2013, and I found a 2012 GS coupe, Arctic white, 6 spd 3lt
Found my "love" and have a wife who loves the open pipes!

Got my first Vette when I was 23, a 1970 Vert with a 454/4 spd.
I did not really wait for it, I happened to see an add in the news paper, went and looked at it then bought it.
Prior to that I had never thought about owning a Vett.
