Default Need a cabin air filter for your C6?

I just ordered one for myself, and thought I'd pass this along.

Appears to be an excellent price!

Far less than a number of other auto parts stores I checked, and for the exact same product, and part number.

They even have a coupon for $2.00 off making it only $13.67!

I just installed one a month ago. I still smell cigarettes from the car in front of me as well as whenever downwind from someone. I also smell the burned valves and diesel.

Are there any filters that actually remove these smells?

That's what the charcoal is for, right?

Yes,....this filter has charcoal, and Arm & Hammer baking soda embedded in the filter to remove odors.

Does it really work? I don't know, I haven't used it before, but it's worth a try.

Saw that, and Purolator has a good reputation.
However, their product didn't have the active charcoal and baking soda to filter odors, that's why I passed on it.

That is the one I purchased a month ago and I don't think it made any difference over the OEM one I pulled out. The OEM one might have been original since I bought the car used with 23k.

If anyone finds one they can confirm removes all smells it would be great to know one exists, but I doubt they can remove anything more than mild odors.

Passenger side firewall, just 3 clips I think. Its the easiest filter you will ever change...there is a writeup somewhere on here.

These things are designed primarily to filter out road dust, pollen, and similar contaminants.

I don't see any of them being really effective against odors.

This the kind of thing that is so inexpensive, and easy to replace, that I do it once a year, rather than wait for 36,000 miles as called for in the maintenance guide.

I used to replace the engine air filter once a year in my other cars, where the filter costs $12 ~ $15.00.

The C6 air filter is too expensive to replace that often. Perhaps I'll buy a K&N cleanable filter when the time comes.
