Your thoughts on what a Grand Sport (GS) may be worth in two years (2016)
Hi everyone.
It has been a very long time since I posted but I recently got the itch to get back in the Corvette market since I sold my 96 Collector Edition LT4 seven years ago.
Given financial reasons (car note, child support, etc), I am planning to pick up a 2010-2012 Grand Sport during the fall-winter 2016. By then my current car note will be done and I can handle a new one without issue.
Having said that, this is what I am seeking
- manual
- 2lt
- black, red, or blue exterior
- chrome stock wheels
- < 40,000 miles
- coupe
Do you think one fitting this description can be had for $30k-$35k in two years? Also, the lt options get confusing. Does the 2lt offer gps?
I am not going by kbb since current GS prices and kbb do not really fall in range right now.
Thanks.

Burning Brakes
Well, you mostly figured out the scam. When you go to buy a car, it'll be based on an artificial value source like KBB, plus profit markup (even though they paid auction price), plus another artificial $500 dealer service fee.
When you go to sell/trade in your ride, they'll look up a Manheim report based on a few folks who sold their cars in Alaska during the winter for peanuts and of course, call that the value of your car.
I'd take the dealership out of the equation completely and get preapproved from your lender and buy from a private seller.

Melting Slicks
Nav was standard on 2, 3 and 4 LT in 2012 might have been the same for 2010 and 11. Don't worry if it's not there a Garmin is much better.

Price is always going to be lower as the mileage increases on the car.
GS is not going to hold it price like a Z06, and all comes down to how much mileage is on the car when you buy it.
If you are looking for a low mileage GS, then now would be a better time to find it since most of the owners will be trading there garage queens in on a C7 now. In two years, you may luck out and find a low mileage car, but chances will be a lot slimmer then.
As for the Vet, yes it a 200K car, but there is a lot of up kept needed to keep the car tight for that long of a period.
Trust is, at 50K, whole lot of work if parts have need been replaced before hand, and you looking at a steep bill to get such tight and new again. HB, brakes and rotors are about dead at that point, Clutch can be questionable, end links, and the list goes on that could be a problem child as well.

my guess will be a 2013 GS in low miles and great condition chrome wheels and black will be about $40K - in the year 2016. I'd bet on it. Also - I think the DOW will be @ 19,500. If the DOW goes below 17,000 in 2016 a 2013 GS will be $35K
