Can someone help me understand 1/4 mile times
Today I was reading an article on the new zo6. 0 to 60 was 3.5. 1/4 mile time was 11.5.
My 2013 427 convertible is supposed to be 3.8 0 to 60 and 11.8 in the 1/4.
The z06 has 150 more hp. By my calculations it shouldn't be anywhere near that close. I can remember when muscle car and powerful cars in general were judged by 1/4 mile times. Has it just become irrelevant. It's not just the Vettes. Thoughts?

When magazines test cars, the drivers have very little time to learn the car. The higher performance cars are difficult to launch on street tires, so one driver may find a good method quicker than another and that'll easily account for ET differences.
Until several owners have recorded their best times, you won't have a good feel for the real numbers. It's part of why the sticky performance list exists.

I don't look at the Corvette as far as the 1/4 mile times although I believe it is probably where the cars see the most track activity. I look at lap times at different tracks they test the cars at, such as Road Atlanta, Laguna Sega, VIR an so on. But as far as the different 1/4 mile and 0-60 time you list is not correct, and also the times supplied depend on track conditions and the driver.
