We're working on it - down to $2.05.

When I saw the post heading I immediately thought about something else.

This is the first time in several years gas prices has been down for our annual road trip. They usually go up.

Yes, despite everything, gasoline prices are approaching 2008 prices. Considering everything, that's quite a reversal.

I saw $1.89 in OKC. Not good for our local economy for sure.

Crook is right. I avoid getting fuel in the Chicagoland area at all costs. Glad I don't live there, but when traveling through and around, I get it before or after.

They are doing a lot of horizontal wells in and around Rogers Mill county. Very expensive to drill and usually a quick pay out if the price per barrel is around 90. Hard to make a profit at 40 a barrel, so they aren't drilling.

I realize the lowly employees usually take it in the shorts with things like this, but all those years and years of record profits by the executives doesn't make me feel too bad. You say it's hard to make a profit, but when the Kings are used to eating steak and potatoes, me thinks a profit is still there to be made, but they'd have to lower their definition of a profit to maybe...let's say, chicken and rice.

No, they just move production to other more profitable areas, usually overseas.

All the big oil companies had moved out of the Permian Basin but had started drilling again. Now they are moving out again, leaving the independent oil companies there.

On a serious note, how many gallons of gasoline can they get out of a barrel of oil? I was thinking gas should be even lower at the $40 mark.

That I don't know. Production is down by the coast, not in the desert where I grew up.

I have heard for cast for under 30 a barrel. But gas prices won't reflect that they say.

not me. I get in with some Dundas producers who want to rework the Wells at 100,000 per well. Oil was 100 a barrel when they started. Final cost was 450,000 per well and oil price were dropping.
