Default 2012 grand sport spoiler question

I'm thinking about buying this 2012 grand sport but I do not like the spoiler it is doubled sided taped down if I remove it should I expect to see a small stock spoiler or is that removed when the other spoiler is installed hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say

thanks

Stock spoiler is removed when anything other spoiler is installed. Stock spoilers should be easy to find, lots are taken off for upgrades.

Are you sure this one is just taped?

I don't recognize it from that pic so can't be sure but it is one of the larger spoilers which usually are bolted, but not necessarily.

Could try to negotiate with the dealer, make it part of the deal, they take off that spoiler and install a stock one before you take delivery. Then if it is bolted, the surprise is on them. Just sayin'.

Not always true. I don't remember which manufacture makes it, but there is one that makes a spoiler that goes over the stock one. With that said, this one could be removed and a ZR1 or Chevy full length could be installed in its place.

To me it looks like the stock spoiler would have been removed. The third break light looks flush. I agree with others. Work the removal into the deal.

If you find a good Grand Sport for a good price, I wouldn't even bother arguing minutiae. I don't think the dealer would be open to negotiating down because of it either.

olts
Looked at the car on-line and here's my thoughts:
The car is very clean...inside and out. The yellow calipers look great. The front GS splitter is missing. The rear spoiler could be replaced with a full width spoiler if it's been drilled. The price is OK for the condition and miles.
Me? I would negotiate a price and then insist the front spoiler (and mounting bolts) gets thrown in (do you have the skills to mount?) and negotiate a deep discount for a painted, full width rear spoiler.
Just me.

If the CHMSL is built into that spoiler, then the factory lip spoiler was probably removed before installation. Although two sided tape is removable, I would caution you, that you should first ask that the spoiler be removed and if any paint damage exists, it should be corrected to your satisfaction to complete the purchase. even removing a GM spoiler will leave marks on the paint. So, if you want that spoiler off, do it before you take her home. the seller may not wish to bother to take it off, and would rather sell to someone with less objection.... my .02

They dropped the price to 40k. It has the two roof panels

What's a new front splitter worth ? I have no issues replacing parts , I'm always working on something

Thanks for all the info. Forum people are the best

I bought my last one from Cultrag Performance (forum vendor) and going to say about $225-ish. Easy install with the bolts and clips.

Ask Gene at Cultrag to run a VIS for you.

A 3 hour ride is nothing, to go check out a car. Spoiler may be taped or bolted,or taped and bolted, either way it's an easy fix.

when you say an easy fix , other than doing some body work for the bolt holes what do I do ? maybe I'm missing something but if you "Bolt" down the spoiler didn't you drill through the body of the car ? as for the 3 hour drive, I commute a 100 miles a day I just wanted to minimize seat time . but sometimes you got to commit

When I installed my spoiler, I had to drill four holes. Chances are, if it was not tapped down, there will be bolt holes to deal with. I would think the best way to correct it would be to buy a spoiler you liked and cover the holes.

You are correct...not necessarily an easy fix. If you want a full width rear spoiler it is an easy fix. Off with the old, on with the new...bolted or taped. If you just want the small spoiler it will be an easy fix only if the current spoiler is attached with tape.

If you have the chance, take the two inside tail light out (1 screw ea) and look up inside and see if they drilled any holes through the bumper to mount the spoiler on this corvette. There will be holes from the stock small spoiler. Even with two sided tape, they may have drilled holes. I have not seen a spoiler like that one on any corvette.
