Default Lowered on stock bolts??

I have a 2011 GS and i'm considering trying to lower it on the stock bolts just a little bit to fill in the area between the fender and the top of the tire. Anyone have and input of how it rides after or have pics of a vette lowered on stock bolts ?? Trying to see if it's worth it or if i just need to bite the bullet and buy coilovers

I have an 05 base Z51, lowered all the way on stock bolts. The rear however wasn't low enough, I wanted it to sit even front and back.
So I had one section of the rear bolt cut off.
It sits perfect for me now.
The ride changed a little, but not much IMO. It is a little harsher when you hit a big dip at higher speeds but everyday driving didn't change much.
Opinions may vary...

Before you do anything, please check the height at the top of the wheel arch for me. I think the PO of mine lowered it. Driving as carefully as I can I still drag the front lip multiple times every single drive. I measured the height of the front wheel arch at 25 & 1/16 inches, curious to how that compares to others.

I'm at 25 3/4" on the front and 26 3/4" on the rear. Good suggestion for the OP to measure first, so he can have a reference.

This is indeed lowered...maybe even too low. And if you're on stock shocks and springs...that's not good.

I lowered slightly on stock bolts years ago.
Maybe a 1/4 inch (6 millimeters)....don't recall and counted the number of bolt turns.

Ride quality is fine (Z51, stock shocks, transverse spring) ....plus as a street car I still have speed bump clearance.

PS Procedure is to measure off points on the frame under the rocker panels...not fender lip. I think the clearance ranges 4 to 4.5 inches and measurement front differs from rear.

Easy to do...recommended mod!

So you are lowered and I'm still lower! Looks like I need to buy some new front springs & bolts. From what I've read that's the only way to get it back up once it's been cut down. I'm assuming nobody actually changed the spindles. I need to measure the rear but the car has a lot of rake & looks a lot taller than your photo in the rear.

Do you need to replace anything besides the spring to get it back to stock height?

10 mm wrench and a floor jack and probably an hour to do everything, including measuring. Whole lot cheaper than buying coilovers.

you don't need to replace the spring, just turn the adjuster and it will raise the car back up. Actually pretty simple to do. Also realize that the plastic deflector is designed to scrape, i know it sounds horrible when it does but its not hurting anything.

Mine is so low I think they cut the bolts down. GM doesn't see just the bolts. I scrape EVERYWHERE.

I have the same number of thread protruding on on both passenger and driver side (stock bolts) which I also think were possibly cut down.

My issue is my passenger side sits 1/2 inch lower than my driver's side. I do have a blower on the right side but I doubt that's the reason lol. Anyone else notice one side sitting lower than the other?

I may need to measure the shock length on both sides to see if they are both extended the same and maybe it's just a body flaw. The fenders appear to lign up just fine and in reference to the leading edge of the front doors they both sit the same. I have a suspicion it's cosmetic but need to confirm before adjusting the one side a whole bunch to make up the difference.

After reading a lot of posts concerning "stock height' it appears they are all over the place, from different "Base" reading to Grand Sports they differ car to car. Most measured center of wheel well on level ground with proper tire pressure.
Mine is front 26 1/2", rear 27 3/4" but I did turn the rear bolts down 3/8" so stock was 281/8"
Others were higher and some lower if you do a search on this subject
You will not need new bolts if they just cut the rubber bushing to get it lower, raise them equally.

I'm going to find level ground and measure from cross member to ground on each side just in case one of the lowering bolt bushings is collapsed more on one side compared to the other since body panel alignment varies from side to side / Car to car.

Anybody have the exact F/R measurements and how exactly to measure?
