You are very welcome !
3LT with Bose , u should be ok but if not the wire is easy to run . Just pop out your speedometer (remove the trim ring and take out 4 7mm screws ) tap into the green VSS wire , feed it across to the radio and push the pin into the radio connector .
Ray Kawel has a great writeup on his web site explaining exactly what wire to tap into and what pin position to push it into on the radio connector . He also sells the wire with the correct pins which made installation a snap
I did the same conversion then banged my head against the wall when I could not get the navigation to work
I found Ray's posts , sent him a few emails , installed the wire and bingo, the nav worked great
Let me know if you need the web address

So all good! Tested it on the way home today and it did interface with the HUD. I should have done this swap a long time ago!

Do you have it set to "Street" mode , the nav will not display in any other mode

OP has a 2008. BT wasn't available until 2009, so unless he's done a lot of retrofitting, he doesn't have steering wheel BT buttons, nor a BT-optioned VCIM, both of which are required to use factory BT. (You also need a 2009+ radio as well, which he may or may not have purchased)

Actually, I put a 2008 Nav into my 2011 (with the steering wheel controls) and while yes, it is true those controls no longer control my BT, the Onstar "phone" button on the rearview mirror will (both to answer and to disconnect calls). Not sure yet about any future pairing issues, but I do still have BT functionality in the car.
Hopefully you won't get a new phone or have to reset either the phone or the cars BT anytime soon.

You touched on the major issue: as far as I could tell, there is NO way to pair the cell phone to the car's BT if you don't have functional steering wheel BT buttons. And as you have learned, the 2009-2013 steering wheel BT buttons won't work with a 2008 Nav.
Hopefully you won't get a new phone or have to reset either the phone or the cars BT anytime soon.

You are probably right but given I tend to keep my phones a long time hopefully it won't be an issue. Worst case I guess I could simply pop the old unit back in, pair the phone, and then put the Nav back in place. Both units are security-mated to the car so I would think there would be no issue, but for the hour or so to get it done.

Now that both of your radios are keyed to your car, you *should* be able to swap back and forth with no reprogramming. I haven't tried it myself, but that's the way it's supposed to work.

Sorry but what is a "BT" or "B/T"?
