Default Alternate mounting for Old School Mild 2 Wild Switch?

Have any of you mounted the switch for the Old School Mild 2 Wild somewhere other than the dead pedal?

My car came with it installed, but I really don't like it on the dead pedal, so I'm trying to find a better place to mount it. I'm thinking somewhere under the dash where I can hit the switch with my hand.

Have you considered something like this as an alternative?
http://www.nitrousexpress.com/15777-...tch-panel.html

FWIW, I checked with the vendor and the switch panel can be ordered without the laser etched labels on the front plate.

Putting it in place of the ash tray is not a bad idea. Fabbing up a plate shouldn't be too hard.

I just tucked the wiring up along the drivers side of the center console where it meets carpet. The switch ended up close in line with the shifter, so I didn't have to fumble around much when looking for it. If I had to do it again, I'd mount it in the ash tray or center console bin.

For $60 you get plate and 3 switches turnkey.

Yes, you could probably fab something up but I guess it boils down to what is your time worth?

That's how I have mine temporarily. I actually really like the dead pedal location, just trying to find the right switch. I bought a headlight dimmer switch but it's way too deep, not a lot of room up at the top of the dead pedal.

Do you not like it on the dead pedal because it gets in your way? If that's the case, perhaps it's installed more than an inch from the top.

I wear a size 13 shoe and no interference. Just wonder if that's why you don't like it on the dead pedal. FWIW, mine is located right at an inch from the top, way out of the way.

Lots of good advice from others that posted above.

My situation also, I installed mine on the dead pedal but somewhat higher than the instructions suggested. Works well for me.

Time spent in the garage is quality time.

Honestly, I prefer using ingenuity and creativity rather than my wallet whenever possible.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions guys!

I think the PO did install it too low. Moving the switch as far up towards the top of the dead pedal as possible might be another good option as well.

I just ran the switch under the passenger side floor mat and left it there. I leave it in "wild" almost all the time and did not want an exposed switch.....well that and I'm a little bit lazy. It is fairly easy to reach when I want to go "mild". I like it there.

Made a small bracket and used right side column support bolt. As mounting point for toggle switch.

I really like that option too.

I'm with Beaversstonehaven and leave the valves open all the time. If the PO hadn't already installed it, I would have skipped buying the M2W and just pulled the fuse.

Since it came with the car though, I like the idea of having the switch mounted out of the way where I can't accidentally switch it.

I'll take a pic of mine when I get home. I water jetted an alum plate, bent it about 90 deg and mounts to an existing hole by your right knee. I used a radio shack switch. It is not in the way at all. I may have a spare laying around.

I installed a toggle switch for a friend of mine in his GS. Put it under the dash directly under the steering wheel. Not much room in there at all. Drilled a hole in the dash. The switch can't be seen unless you bend down and look. Not my choice, but what he wanted. Sorry, don't have any pics.

There are other mounting options. I don't like drilling holes in anything, so I went this route. I believe I tapped the existing hole with a 1/4-20 tap. The hole is actually oversized for a 1/4-20 tap but it holds fine. A button head will give more clearance but I didn't have one. I may make another and contour the bracket to match the switch and shorten it up a bit. I do have a spare that I can drop in the mail if you want it.

That's a generous offer. Thanks! I don't want to put you through the trouble though.

Thanks for the pictures also!

There used to be a vendor that sold a small bracket with Velcro that would clip to your sun visor. No permanent mods to your car if that's is important to you.

I made one like that out of a old money clip. Re-bent it to fit the sun visor with a small piece of Velcro. Use the remote that came with the kit. Very easy and convenient to use.
