2014 mustang that fast?
So raced my friends 2014 mustang GT, didn't think it was going to keep up with me like that on the freeway.

they have similar power, and are only 300 lbs heavier (100 lbs = ~ 10 HP i think).

Okay it sounds like you know what you want and just need some guidance. It sounds like you want an NA build.
Cam: Run a BTR 3 or 4 depending on how aggressive you wanted to get.
Lifters: Johnson 2116
Heads: Ported/milled .030" and have AHP install some MS90 guides (if LS7) Just ported if base.
Springs: BTR Platinum with Ti retainers
Headers: ARH or LG hands down. I prefer ARH
Axle back: you have a ton of options and they really wont matter that much. It all depends on how loud you want it. I have Billy Boat Fusion.
Intake manifold: Tony Mamo ported MSD for LS7 or FAST/stock ported for base - both are very close to each other.
Cold Air intake: Halltech with a beehive and vette air or Vararam
Depending on what route you go and what dyno you pull on, it will get you somewhere between 560 and 630whp if LS7 I am not sure of H/C/I gains with base.
Then you will need a clutch.
I have a McLeod RXT, if that goes I will probably buy a Mantic triple. Both are good options for those setups. You might not need to go with as much clutch if base.

I am not sure if you are serious or not but many of these things cannot just come from Amazon. You will need to contact vendors here to get what you need. If you need info on one or the other just ask.

I know whatcha mean, but all intakes, headers, etc. seem to be available, free shipping and all, I've been told too hit those first and then go for cam heads... but I am always open for direction.

I have updated the list to reflect base/Z06 model suggestions. I saw that I was in general and not Z06 specific. Many are the same. Performance base guys may have more suggestions/input they want to add.

Do the driver mod where you and your friends grow up and quit having pissing contests with one another on public highways endangering the public for your own enjoyment.
Go to the race-track.

I'm assuming this is an LS2 car since they do not keep up with LS3's.
If I was in your shoes, headers, intake and exhaust and go get a tune. Say bye bye to the mustang.

Always something faster around the next corner.
Ask yourself just how important it is to keep up with the next fast car.
The corvettes has more than enough ample power for navigating the hi ways with ease.
Always gonna be a faster car, then what do you do?
A tune and long tubes will give nice responsiveness change without any maintenance issues. Depending on your local smog laws. Federally illegal though.
I saw 47 rwhp and 40+ rwtq. LS3.
Usually messing with change can bring some headaches.

I added the diff change too with 4:10's. Now this really makes the manual 6 speed fun to drive.
Anything more than this and you really need some open space to use full throttle and even then maybe 1-2 gears worth and you can be thrown in jail.
Just be honest with yourself.
I put money into suspension upgrades and better tires. makes for better driving experience. The corvette isn't lacking for power.

Chances are he has........ we own one. More specifically my husband owns it. Mid-12 second 1/4 mile before he started doing things to it.
Today it's sitting in the garage for the winter....... but last summer he was at New England dragway more often than I've seen him do in years. He loves the car. Says it's been the easiest car to to get into the 11s he's ever worked on. That's not quite Hell Cat or new Z06 fast but it's plenty to lay waste to any lesser Corvette that hasn't been worked on.
Out on the freeway? I don't know........ who races on the street?
Seems to me that's a GREAT WAY to lose your licenece and if it goes bad......maybe lose everything.
I don't like the car .......it feels scary as hell to me under acceleration. It's a crazy hand full on street tires.

Like some others have mentioned,
Headers+intake+tune= 40 to 50 HP. I would start there and decide if that is enough.

I had a 2015 GT and while it was fast (and nice), it wasn't on the same level as a C5Z, C6, or C7. Not a dig on the car (I really liked it), just a fact

My wife has a 2012 GT. Great car. Tune, tires and it is a consistent 11.9@115-116mph car at track here in 3500+DA. No headers, stock mufflers, TB to oil pan never even been opened up. Amazing cars.
I enjoy it more than my c6z.
