Default Oil catch can location

I'm installing the Elite Engineering can on my 2013 427 convertible. I want to mount it near the oil tank because there's a good area of open space between it and the head. I got several brackets from EE and none of them will put the can where I want. I've searched the forum with various attempts to find pics of what others have done.

Has anybody done this and have good pics to show?

I've decided to make my own mount out of sheet metal and possibly even bring it to a local powder coater when done.

Thanks for any help!

I speced out which bracket I needed from EE, and my install is about as good as it gets (IMO).

I am using an "L" bracket, with the short end tied to the existing "inside" (closest to the windshield) hood latch bolt.

It puts the can in a perfect spot, nestled in between the oil tank and the fuse box.

Lines gracefully flow around the fuse box and into the intake / galley cover.

Maybe you can convert the MM mount, as he has a setup that works perfectly to put it there (and IMO a much much much nicer can).

I bought the hockey stick and the L bracket as well and it seemed like it was going to really compress the wiring harness. I would love to get a custom made L bracket that was one inch longer and that got me thinking of making my own. I'll take another look after seeing your pics.

Thanks very much for the pic!

Here's a crappy picture I took while doing my last wiggle test. That's the bracket that comes with the EE can kit. Sorry for the fuzziness.

Undy, how did you get a pair of those gm approved wiggle test vice grips?

Those are actually purpose built vice grips that are manufactured with the flexible shaft attached to them. When tightened down/mounted correctly they actually provide a stable mount for the dial indicator.
