At the Texas Mile in Oct, 2010, I outran a new Ferrari 458 in my bone stock ZR1. And not by a little either. By 7 mph.
Don't need an LPE ZR to outrun a 458 in the mile, a bone stock one will do just fine.

In the above video the Ferrari was clearly quicker off the line (yes, this could be due to different drivers) and had a substantial lead. Subsequently, it was the fact the ZR1, which was modified having over 100 hp more than stock, that likely allowed it to catch up and pass the Ferrari. Had the ZR1 been stock the outcome may have been different.
Hence, in all fairness, it was an "apples to oranges" comparison to begin with. And is the reason videos like this, although entertaining, are rather pointless.
Another example would be two drivers with identical or nearly identical vehicles competing in a drag race. The difference being one driver has 43 years of drag racing experience, 28 of which were professionally. And the other a newcomer on track for the very first time. Thus, although the winner is never a certainty, the odds obviously favor the more experienced driver. And if he were to win one could not make a viable claim that his car was clearly faster. In other words, in such a contest the driver is always a factor. Something everyone here understands. Yet, some people will claim the car they happen to own or favor was obviously faster. When in fact the car itself had little or nothing to do with it.

The Texas mile doesn't go from a standing start?

Except for the fact the Texas Mile is not a drag race. Therefore ones speed at the end of the measured mile is irrelevant compared to another car when it comes to a direct contest of speed where both cars are side by side, simultaneously. In that case it's simply which car traps first, not which one has the higher top speed. Comparing top speeds over a measured distance is, however, an indicator of which may win a drag race.

True, but with 1/4 mile trap e.t. close b/n a stock 458 and a stock ZR, the "walk" occurs after the 1/4 for a stock ZR as well, just not by as large a margin as the LPE ZR's "walk" on this video.
No doubt the 458 is quick, and it shows it in the 1/4. But it struggles against even a stock ZR's hp and torque beyone the 1/4.

Have you had a chance to compare the ZR1 and the Callaway in the mile run?
