ZR1 'chittering' noise when pulling away from stop
I recently bought a '13 ZR1 with about 17,000 miles.
Whenever I pull away from a complete stop, and the engine lugs down a little, it makes sort of chittering, squeaking noise, almost sounds like a squeaky exhaust pipe hanger or maybe an intake noise.
Makes this sound either as clutch pedal is part the way out, or all of the way out. I've also heard it if the engine lugs down in a higher gear. Not that I make a habit out of it!
I'm hoping this is completely normal and wondering if it might be the supercharger bypass valve chattering.
Otherwise this car runs great, amazing really.

Congrats on your new acquisition.
I've got about 9k miles on my 2012 and I haven't heard or experienced any such issue. Perhaps the other owners will chime in soon and provide you with a more helpful response.

It is normal. It is drivetrain lash or play. Basically its clutch chatter except coming from the transmission. Sometimes swapping to a better fluid helps to get rid of the noise or just don't let rpms drop too low. I recommend Royal Purple ATF transmission fluid if you are going to do a swap.

You can get this from valved mufflers when they start going loose internally from heat cycles. I've had two C6s get a minor rattleish sound on moving forward from a stop. Also during any lugging which causes more vibration. Noise progressed to all the time. Muff replacement cured it in both cases. But if you track it the heat cycles usually get to new mufflers also especially with mods, headers, etc which increase temps back there.

Thank you. Makes sense.
