Who is running ZR1 guibos on their base propshaft?
I'm swapping my clutch and am looking to make a few economical driveline upgrades.
I have an '09, which I've been told has a shorter torque tube. Was part of the revised TT the addition of ZR1 guibos and propshafts across all models?
If not, can I put the ZR1 guibo on my '09 propshaft w/o any other modifications?
Also, does anyone have the part number and price for the ZR1 guibos?
I see RPM makes a polyurethane coupler kit for $375, but I'm curious if the ZR1 is cheaper and will transmit less vibration.
I'd like to skip upgrading the propshaft if possible...

Is there another guibo replacement kit that works well and is cheaper than the $375 RPM kit?

I will sell you a pair of aluminum couplers for $200 shipped. I ended up going with a Pfadt driveshaft and they have their own couplers. These couplers are the Z06 ones, so it would be worth while asking LG Motorsports if they fit.

It looks like they're the same between c6/z06, but I'm not sure about going solid... I don't want to get vibrations or make it more likely for the stock propshaft to break w/ the lack of give

I don't think the couplers would cause your prop to break. You still have other areas of play in your system. I also have a 3.5" DSS driveshaft if you're interested.

DSS & Pfadt are both a great choice. We utilize of all Frank's products including his 9" IRS housings & axles to complete our 9"-IRS-Powerglide kits. I saw his new C/F shaft in person at PRI, to say the least I am quite impressed with it and the pricing is very reasonable on them. We have used Pfadt carbon fiber driveshafts in a few of our 8-second cars and they have held up strong. The nice part of the carbon fiber/non-guibo design is that it is quieter than a u-joint style aluminum driveshaft and holds up to strength more than the guibo-style aluminum/carbon fiber. And this is coming from a shop that sells their own u-joint style aluminum driveshaft!

When you swap over to a solid coupler you remove a very important piece of compliance, and this can definitely wear bearings and driveshaft out faster than with the factory couplers in place. With the Pfadt Carbon Fiber Driveshaft you don't have anything to worry about.

The couplers we include in the Carbon Fiber Driveshaft kit actually are one of the most important bits of the product. We call them Flex Disks, and they allow for angular discrepencies between the engine and transmission. They perform the most important function of the rubber couplers (keeping forces on the bearings and driveshaft due to small amounts of misalignment low), but the flex disks remaining stiff in rotation for the performance of a billet coupler.

The DSS couplers are priced EACH. You need 2. Thats $400 for 2. The ones from RPM are a lil cheaper and are the same part. Sold as a pair from them. I tried to get a pair a few months back but were on back order.

For the OP: the Z06 propshaft is a little larger diameter in stock form. Maybe see if you can find one from an 2009 Z06 that is a take out. That would be a cheap upgrade for you. Sotck ZR1 couplers will NOT work with out shortening the shaft.
I have a customer in Kuwait building an '09 Z but I think the shipping back here might kill the deal for you

Makes me want to go pick up a driveshaft just to upgrade.

I'll sell you this 3.5" DSS one. It has 40 miles on it. Aluminum couplers too if you want.
I don't think it matters. Pfadt uses the same prop shaft for 06-11 Zs. It's from my 06.

I know they shortened the torque tube for the '09+ cars, not sure if that also means a shorter propshaft or not... from the DSS product listings for aftermarket shafts being 05-08 and 09-XX, I would imagine there is some difference.
