Default Dyno Day

Went to a local shop dyno day. They had a competition so I said why not. Drove there in 94F weather, made 2 pulls, then hung out and went home. When I left I was still the highest car by about 400rwhp.

AFR was pegged at 10.0 so I need to do some tuning. 91 octane, meth, as I drive it daily

1050rwhp/920rwtq. I think it has a solid 50-70rwhp in the tune.

1050rwhp, that's killer! What's your setup?

Also, I'm in Litchfield Park, AZ. Looking for a really good shop (or mechanic) to do work on my 06 Z06. Can you recommend anyone local?

Thanks..

First things first, I need to upgrade my clutch to the mantic 9000 and change my wheels/tires. Then I want to add a blower kit. I was leaning towards the A&A kit. You like the ECS better?

Any how after that I'll start with the bolt on's, then cam & build up the heads.

Yes, had both, ECS is better.

Do heads first. That should be your first thing, before blower or anything else.

What would you have done to the heads? I was told milling is bad for blowers and porting only gets 5hp.

Thanks for the advice.

Milling isn't bad in all cases, that all depends.

Porting can get a lot more than 5hp.

Depends on goals and your setup. Mild build, I would just do a WCCH, AI, FRH, LPE, Livernois, etc package matched to what you want. For 900+rwhp and big boost I would do a 6 bolt head matched to your budget. Those run $3k-6k so it just depends on what you want, need, and can afford.

Looks like I won the overall for the day, it was still going yesterday. A big turbo supra told me he would beat my numbers, because he did 1060rwhp a few weeks ago. He did 1009 yesterday. An Evo that did 710awhp 2 weeks ago did 660awhp, so it looks like cars were down ~50-60rwhp from "normal", so maybe my numbers aren't that bad.

Damn good numbers man!

That 10.0 AFR is costing you 40-50hp.. That would put you at 1100hp, that's the highest I have ever seen out of a ysi on anything.

Good job!!

Local 376ci car did 1090rwhp. I've seen 1105 on a different car. So there is room to go for sure.

Race gas and 5-6 degrees of timing has to be hiding some power too.

IATs were getting up there too. Was surprised. Went from ~7 on meth dial to maxing it out, and still hitting ~120F at end of pulls. Now this is with a small fan up front, on street isn't an issue, but pulling a few degrees for IATs. Probably work on that next.

Any plans to throw it on a dynojet dyno?

I'm just curious as to any difference in power vs the hub mount style dyno(dynopack)... (ie. No tire spinning, no wheel weight, no friction etc etc)

Killer numbers tho.... I'd love to see it on the drag strip and see what it traps.. Should go 160+ in good air with near 1100hp...

Yah, local place is getting a new dynojet. The other one in town is so old and worn, it is a huge pain to get anything over 800rwhp to not spin on it. Rollers are completely slick.

Nope. Sadly I've been too lazy to do a pump gas tune besides get it in the ball park. This motivated me. Already leaned it out so it is showing 10.3-10.5 on the AFR gauge now. Waiting on a dyno jet to be installed to go dyno there. This was through beat up dirty *** old ECS air filter. I think there is a bit of power waiting there.

Just went to lunch with the supra owner, nice guy. He had boost/timing down a bit because of clutch slipping. He did make 1063rwhp a few weeks ago but clutch is going out so he backed I down. Rules were no tweaking or messing with cars on the dyno.

Ordered some nitrous outlet parts.

Going to see about a few more things before the 1/2 mile race in December.
