Default Blower Whine and BOV

Which S/C has more blower "whine", A&A or ECS? Also, which kit has a louder Blow Off Valve? Getting ready to pull the trigger, while some like it quiet, I am the opposite.

You won't really get much whine with either. The BOV will be making the noise. I have the ECS with a Tial valve that friends have described as sounding like a jet engine that is about to suck them up when driving behind them. I like to stay in lower gears which makes it much louder.

The Tial Q that comes with the ECS kit is pretty loud.

But like someone already mentioned the blowers don't really whine with either kit.

Yeah, ECS bypass valve is pretty loud.. just sounds like a lot of air moving around though, not blower whine. There's very very little blower whine, at least with the ECS kit

Get a V1 with strait cut gears and they are loud and whine at idle.

You can still buy them in the S, SI, T, and TI trims.

Almost all the blowers sold now from ECS or A&A have helical cut gears and are quiter.

If you really want the bov to be loud...it is definitely possible. I bought a used A&A T trim blower and the turbosmart bov came with a (trumpet) that will make it very loud....but i am running with filter on at the moment

from the ones I've seen prochargers are the loudest... my d1 is loud and to someone who knows about that sorta stuff there is no hiding it... the average person would probably think something was wrong with the car... I also have a tial q which is loud as stated above

I agree to an extent because I have had a Procharger and loved the whine and bov sound but I am going to compare that to my current ECS. Thus far the Procharger does have the louder constant whine at idle from what I can tell. More to follow though...

They both use the same company blowers, and both have options for BOVs. So basically whatever you want. Get a straight cut blower with a Tial with a -2 spring and that would be the loudest setup in my experience.

That video is a Vortech V1. Vortech makes Paxton. Send Doug a message or call Chris and ask if they can get you a 1500 with strait cut gears.

Don't know why I said Procharger. Lol!

I'm almost tempted, but I've been waiting close to a month on my kit already. Probably not wise to change now. Man it's tempting. Lol!

So making a blower selection based on blower noise? Got it...

Posing/showing off at the car meets a top priority.... Got it.

Get an F1C or F1R ProCharger, pulley for max impeller speed, and a Big Red blow off valve, you'll be a hit.

Lol! I do like the straight cut gear whine. It just kinda takes me back I guess, but the loud bov is definitely not my cup of tea. I'm getting to the age that I don't even care for the open npp exhaust sound. I'm more into making the power as quietly as possible these days. Much the opposite of the op it seems, but there is something about those straight cut gears. It would probably wear on me after a while though.

Hey guys,
We offer our Si-trim and Ti-trim in the V1 option for those that want the blower "noise" at idle. These have the straight cut gears, HD bearings, and are engine lubed. I only sell about 5 of these a year compared to the other 395 V3's I sell each year. It's definitely the minority of vette owners that want the "noisy" stuff.

We also offer a trumpet outlet for our standard 38mm BOV and the Big Bubba 52mm BOV. If you want the loudest BOV you can get order the 52mm BOV from us.

If you combine the V1 headunit and the 52mm BOV w/ trumpet you will always be heard before you are seen.
