Default Rear Wheel for DR.. 17" or 18" help

Looking to add a drag radial to my car, its pushing 822 right now but that always has the ability to go up with future build.

Primary use of the car is a street toy, probably do some 1/2 mile events.

I currently have a set of 19/19 Forgelines on the car that I love but would definitely like more traction for play.

Would a 18 x 11.5 wheel with a 345/35 be good or would I be better off with a 17 x 11 with 325's ?

How much worse are the 17's at cornering?

With that power you want the most sidewall you can get. What do you mean by cornering? Normal driving or fast corners? If you want fast cornering you shouldnt be buying drag radials.

for straight line is pretty much as good as it gets without going widebody. Cornering does suck though.

My car has been 5k miles on 295/45/17s and moroso bias ply 4" wide skinnies and no front sway bar. I got a little slower on turns but other than that it's fine for me.

not as many good tire options for a 17 on a wide rear imo. M&h 325 is about all you've got

M&H 325's can be had right away. The et street R's are on backorder so may take awhile to get. Took my friend 3 months to get his.

Running 17 welds, with the M&H 325's. Works great. I may try the new MT's next if available or just get same again.

I've been running both the 325/45/17 and 345/25/18 M&H DR'S for the past couple of years. A very consistent tire that works good on the street and really shines at the track. If your into Mexico runs these tires are excellent. They are not bad in the rain either. I made 2 legs of the Power Tour last year with heavy rain on both legs and didn't have a mishap or even come close to one.

Not really but since I had a full set of 18" Dark Stars I bought the 18's. I prefer to run the 18's myself.

I would only go with a 18" if you need to clear a big brake setup. That is the reason for the 345/35/18 and not a 15" setup, would not clear the 4 piston 14" rear wilwood setup.

Has anyone ran the 305/45R17 on a base model? I know the 295/45R17 fit without rubbing, but it was close.
